[arr] ARR: the best of all times?
Wonder if anyone watched Headlines Today polls last week: as to if ARR is the best music-director/composer of all times. There was an inevitable comparison between ARR and R D Burman. The public opninion showed that 65% of them believed ARR is the best of all times! That is definitely an overwhelming majority considering that we have had Laxmikant-Pyarelal and also the greats of Shankar-Jaikish, S D Burman, Naushad, and so on The day is not far when the world would call ARR the best of all times. (Perhaps they alraedy do...)! Divya
Re: [arr] ARR: the best of all times?
While doing a comparison across times, we also need to consider the fact that public opinion simply means no of smses. In most cases, they accept multiple entries from a single phone. If a poll had been conducted between Himesh and ARR couple of years ago, when Himesh was at his height of popularity , it is quite possible that Himesh would have been voted as being more popular. :) While there is no doubt that ARR is one of the best and is a living legend, it is easy to lose focus if we start comparing against other greats like IR, RDB , MSV , SDB, SJ. Let's enjoy his music and leave the rest. Jai Ho!!! Warm Regards ~~~ Vinayak theregoesanotherday.blogspot.com On Wed, Mar 4, 2009 at 9:14 AM, divyaishu divyai...@yahoo.co.uk wrote: Wonder if anyone watched Headlines Today polls last week: as to if ARR is the best music-director/composer of all times. [arr] ARR the best ever
Hi! A.R.Rahman freeks. I m one of u :). I have this feeling since long time that our boss is wasting his talent by doing indian films. And after listening to 'Sakkarakati' I m more confident about my statement that he should do more international projects, like cut an english internatiol albums with several videos, with great directors. Then I m damn sure that he will beat Beatles, Michael jackson and Elvis very soon inshaAllah. I don't mean albums like 'Bombay dreams, LOTR or WOHE' but pop album I mean just listen to 'taxi taxi', 'i miss you da' its an extraordinary compositions with international feel. What a magician man. I just want arr to be world wide famous. Please plz plz can any one convey this message of mine to arr ? And tell him that our prayers r always with him. I don't know how many of u guy agree with me. But I m firm in my statement. Shehzad.

[arr] ARR wins best MD award at IIFA for RDB!!!
Over 20,000 fans witnessed the grand opening of a star-studded extravaganza, which began late Saturday night, to honour Bollywood personalities for their performances in the last year. The elaborate set decoration, mega decibel music and presence of top names of the Indian film industry - Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek, Aishwarya, Yash Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, the Deols, Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta - made the event a spectacle for the audience. Speaking at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony, Amitabh praised Yorkshire for its hospitality and added that last year was eventful for the Indian film industry as not only did it taste major achievements but also new genres of filmmaking were experimented with. He reiterated that Bollywood now had a global platform. The awards night has begun well for Dhoom:2, Fanaa and Rang De Basanti, as they have bagged two awards each. The Best Editor's award has gone to P.S. Bharti for Rang De Basanti, Best Make-up award was bagged by J.A. James for Dhoom:2 and Anaita Shroff Adajania won the Best Costume award for her brilliant innovations with outfits in Dhoom:2. Versatile singer Sunidhi Chauhan received the Best Female Singer award for her runaway hit song 'Beedi Jalaile...' from the film Omkara, Bollywood's adaptation of William Shakespeare's Othello. Meanwhile, Shaan bagged the Best Male Singer award for 'Chand Sifarish...' from the film Fanaa. The Best Lyricist award has gone to Prasoon Joshi for penning the song 'Chand Sifarish...' from Fanaa while A.R. Rahman has won the Best Music award for his soulful melodies in Rang De Basanti. The versatile Boman Irani and svelte Lara Dutta are hosting this year's IIFA awards, which marks the end of the IIFA Weekend that brought top names of the Indian celluloid to the island. IIFA had decided to roll out a 'Green Carpet' this year, deviating from the tradition of a 'Red Carpet' welcome to celebrities, as it has taken up environmental issues in a bid to save the planet. The grand finale will be showcased to around 500 million people across the world. http://newspostindia.com/report-2893
