Exceprt from thenet dating in 97-98 period: Gandhi Krishna... Director Shankar is proud beyond words that this assistant of his has finally ventured into making his own film. Shankar makes no efforts to hide that he is sincerely happy and proud that Gandhi Krishna is making his directorial debut in Engineer. He described Gandhi Krishna to be the 'menmaiyaana' type and one who loves the arts: literature, poetry and story scripts. Krishna is a calm person who could easily solve any problem just by listening to people carefully and honestly. But all of this is best summed up by Shankar's final comment: "En team-la irundhu aduththa director vandhaachchu-garadhu sandhosam-aa irukku. Padam varattum.. paarungal. En Gandhi-yin kadhai moththa India-voda gavanaththai-yum eerkkum." With blessings and support coming from his guru, Gandhi Krishna has a lot at stake in this venture. Besides Arvind Swamy and Madhuri Dixit providing the glitz and glamour with the excellent still session put together by Krishna, Producer Ramachandra Rao has an ensemble that has Kodambakkam literally 'vaai-yai pollandhu-fying' in awe: dialogues by Sujatha, lyrics by Vairamuthu, music by A.R.Rahman, cinematography by Jeeva and special effects by Venki. Since Engineering is Krishna's subject in real life, he has appropriately given such a title to the film. Additionally, Gandhi Krishna has kept the story completely under wraps. Sujatha and Vairamuthu only discuss the film in 'poodaga' fashion without giving too much away. In all probability, Deepavali 1998 or Pongal 1999 might provide us some wonders in story- telling (sci-fi style) that we have never seen before in tamil cinema, with special thanks to Gandhi Krishna. If things are going as scheduled, the Engineer pada poojai should have occurred on January 23, 1998 and shooting should have begun on January 25, 1998
