Re: [arr] Members should understand that they can't like all genres given by ARR

2010-08-16 Thread V S Rawat
Taimur bro,

With time, not just ARR's music or anybody's work changes, we also
change. We grow, more things occupy our minds, we change importance of
various things in our life.

in 80s, I was so fed up with Bolly music that I didn't hear then
current music (of 80s) and used to hear only old songs of 60s. Then,
Anand Milind, Nadeem Shravan, jatin lalit, ARR brought me back to
current music in 80s-90s. Now I like several songs of 80s also that I
hated then.

I am in terms with my personal tastes so I don't feel bad when I don't
like any occasional ARR album or song, or I don't feel odd in liking
any non-ARR song.

you are an ARR fan for 20 years, I can feel for you how much you are
torturing yourself when you don't like current songs of ARR. you have
all the absolute rights to your likings. I don't like members telling
wrong things about you. Nobody can force anybody to like or dislike a
song or album.

So, do keep posting your frank opinions whether you like an album/
song or whether you dislike it. We being a fan group doesn't mean for
me that we are bound to like everything nor are we bound to praise
everything. But we are indeed bound to keep sharing and keep
expressing our honest opinions.

I appreciate your courage that you kept on posting when so many people
write unjustified things in response to your posts. Don't let that
make you stop posting ever. You are here for ARR's love, we co-members
are just incidental.

I assume this (well written) post by Rawat was directed towards certain people
who dont understand this concept, unfortunately they still dont get the point..
instead of following the advice, they still keep repeating same thing, which
has become annoying.

Re: [arr] Members should understand that they can't like all genres given by ARR

2010-08-15 Thread AJ
I can think of lots of songs by ARR in the past 5 years...only my opinion

Tere Bina
Jaage
Aye Hairathe Aashiqui
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Jashne Bahaar
Marudhani
Zindagi
Muskura
Man Mohiney More
Ishq Ada (Female)
Hawa Sun Hawa
Kabhi Aditi
Kahin To
Jaane Tu Mere Kya Tha (male and female)
Kaise Mujhe
Rehna Tu
Dil Gira Dafatan
Maula Mere Maula
Bhoola Tujhe
Aaromale
Sajana
VTV Title Song
Hosanna
Kaadhal Anukal
Namakame
Ja Re Ud Ja Re

that have the same brilliance and sweetness as you described that ARR had in
the 1990s. Taimur, you come from such a biased perspective and buddy, a lot of
people won't agree with you. Your opinion is not the truth. If you like the
ARR of the 90s better than todayfine...that's your takebut that doesn't
mean ARR of the 90s is better than ARR of today as a fact Nostalgia plays
a big part too.

hey Rawat,
My point has always been that all the 90s and early 2000s
whatever A R RAHMAN has done is been ultra brilliant , midas touch is what he
used to possess , films got hit on just his music. whatever genre ,whatever
instrument , whatever raga he used , shined like a gold , the tunes were all
heavenly , the essence of songs goodness me .

you pointed out urvashi urvashi , just see analyze that song , i mean just look
at the magic, could anyone thought that sarangi can be used for a youthful song
, the claps the jathis tabla , i mean the whole song is master class , take
ennavale O my GOD a divine song , every second is sweeter than honey .does any
song has such sweetness or brilliance now , the answer is simply no .

During 18 years of my following of ARR's works, I had started liking

ARR not with Roja, but with Urvasi of Humse Hai Muqabla, even Gopala.

But I got quite disappointed with Hindustani's Latka Jhatka, Duniya

Dilwalo Ki's Hello Doctor, Dil Hi Dil Me's Maria, etc. Rangeela songs

appeared so barren on first hearing, even chhaiya chhaiya first seen

on TV ad was appearing so comedily funny like a bunch of monkeys

jumping senselessly.

They came in a short duration, so I generalized that ARR has changed

and I had lost faith on him.

But, then I again started liking his other albums, and even liked some

of the songs in the above albums also. That was how I discovered the

"growing" effect of ARR songs.

I still don't like some above mentioned songs but of course I now am

mad about chhayya chhayaa and rangeela (mangta hai kya, can u

believe?), I still don't like Roja much (not dislike but I have my

likings), I didn't like most of JTJTN, Ghajini, I have a lot of

misgivings about selection of type of music for JA that failed to

measure up to Mughal-e-Azam, that was ARR's worst lost opportunity.

Blue I have beaten endlessly.

And I still like Ravan, D6, and many more.

---

With this background, I have discovered that ARR gives many genres of

music and some genres I just don't like, can't like, whether it is by

ARR or by anyone else.

So, I hope members should take some time to think it over about

themselves.

1. Please find out which genres of music you DO like.

2. Please find out which genres of music you DON'T like.

3. Now, think of ARR's songs that you DO like and find out whether

these are in the genre that you like that you listed in "1" above.

4. Also, think of ARR's songs that you DON'T like and find out these

are in the genre that you DON'T like that you listed in "2" above.

I am sure it will give you some insights why you like some ARR songs/

albums, and why you don't like some other ARR songs/ albums.

I am also sure that it will give you some peace (not piece, ha ha ha)

of mind coming to terms with your liking and disliking ARR's and

others' songs/ albums.

Don't torture urself condemning yourself when you don't like any of

ARR's song/ album. It is OK. it is the genre that you don't like.
