Hey guys if u r refering to the time signatures used in western classical music then there is no time signature like 3/3 . And Airjit when vijay said 3/4 he must have been refering to western classical music . Hi vijay! I am really sorry to charge u like thatI am so so sorry. Actually in north indian taal there is also a taal called "rupak"---it has 7 beats---it goes like this ti-ti-na/dhi-na-dhi-na---I thought u r telling about this taal "Rupaka" and also 3/4 matches in that case---but reading ur mail I found myself wrong. RE: [arr] Re: BOSE - Ekla Chalo - beat structure(lpz dbl chk)
Both are correct. In western time notation, 7/8 would be 7 eighth notes (or quavers) into the bar, which is 123-1234 (mostly Indian rhythm) or 1234-123 (Yanni's pet rythm, prob very Mediterannean and is called a 7/8 waltz). What Arijit refers to as 3/3, in western notation is generally, a 3/4 which is 3 quarter notes (crotchets) to the bar, which is 123-123 or popularly known as the Waltz. 6/8 is a popularly known as a slow rock and is much faster than a waltz. I know this for a fact because all Sri Lankan Baila songs are in this beat and it is nothing like a Waltz due to the eigth note denominator instead of the quarter note in a Waltz beat which gives it a faster feel. dear arijit, what u call as a six beat structure is when the tempo is slow.By combining 3+3 beats in a single structure u get 6 beat structure. Also rupaka taala is a 6 beat taal which is expanded as follows: 1 dhritam 1 laghu and 1 dritam has 2 beats and 1 laghu has 4 beats which sum up to 6. usually a beat structure different from an 8 beat structure is expressed as n/8 where n is the number of beats in the song.so ekla chalo coming to ur lines may be called a 6/8 beat song which is nothing but 3/4.As far as the des ki mitti is concerned its a 7 beat song or 7/8,which is exactly what ive said in my prev msg. the 8th beat is but a reference used for expressing other beats.I guess u should read the messages properly before commenting(no offence here dude). And i may still be wrong but please double check for my sake and do tell me if i am.thank u for ur feedback --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Arijit Debnath <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Sorry to sayI dont where do u find this 3/4 beat (Rupaka) in "Ekla Cholo". > It is simple 6 beat song(3/3).
