i think mosa mosa means rapid/good growth.. for laziness they say it as masa
masa-nu na.. I have heard ppl telling "nellu, nalla mosa mosa-nu
varanthirukku.. (crops have grown really well).. I'm not sure.. But sure abt
masa masa.. The same example which vithur anna said.. "masa masa-nu
nikkathey".. My amma used to tell this to me.. :-)

i thought some lines in munbe vaa and marudhaani were fantastic. 
in munbe vaa: 
munbe (a very unusual word, but made all the difference to the song)
nilavidam vadakai vaangi...
poo vaithai (excellent word play here)

in marudhaani: 
marudhaani vizhiyil yaen? (this line is fantastic)
saranams r class

lets not forget mayilirage. i believe the lyrics amazingly suited the
tune and even uplifted it. 

as a whole, vaali is an amazing lyricist and he reserves his best for
ARR. i think ARR should keep requesting vaali for better and better
lyrics during their sits together (vaali adores ARR and so no matter
how much arr requests from vaali, he will comply, arr is just too nice)

lets be happy that arr-vaali combo has given some of the best melodies
in recent times starting with thotaal poo malarum (hehe) to marudhaani.

Since there is a lot going on about Vaali, would like to mention 
something more on the areas where he let ARR. 

Munbe Va : I cant forgive him for writing those fillers "Rango.. 
Rangoli.. kolangal nee pottai.." it was a joke.. if you have a 
software that could edit the words and listen to the song, munbe va 
will be in the top league of his all time best. 

coming back to Marudhani, probably deepali is a character in the 
movie.. but wasnt there a better way of incorporating that name. A 
lyricist of Vaali's caliber can do much beter than that. 

Vaali is a very senior writer and its hard for composers to ask him 
to rewrite something. I happened to listen to IR's recording for a 
Fazil' movie. The song if am right is "Kaatril varum geethame... " 
Vaali is a genius and comes up with impromptu lyrics for the song, 
but the first version is awful.. Even IR requests vaali in a very 
subdued tone and tells him "anna, can you change this to 
something" Am sure ARR has the same challenges too...

Vaali is still the best but that doesnt make him right all the time. 
More than once his lines have been more of a meaningful dialogue than 
an elegant song. Lets call a spade a spade. I love the songs of 
S'katti, but it will be a long time before I come to terms with the 
lyrics. As few others mentioned, we expect high standards from 
lyricists when they write songs for ARR. Even if its Vaali...

There you go again. :):)

In my opinion, Luka Chupi is a masterpiece. I didn't need the video to
explain the situation to me. The song clearly talks about a son
singing to his mother so everybody knew that it is about a son and
mother.

That was a direct word to word translation of Vairamuthu's lyrics. Hum
Se hai Muqabla was P.K. Mishra

I am talkin about  Marudhaani. the lyrics are ok.. they arin't 
that good. 
Vaali writes in avg. tamil but rahman is special, look at Sandhosha 
kanneere, Poongatrile, Engae En Punnagai  etc. We want.. well I 
want somethin like that.

songs. Video rather explained the real scenario and give a perspective 
to the song.

I remember the disappointment members had felt in this list listening to 
the Rukhi Sukhi Roti of Nayakan. It sounded so rough, so unpolished, so 
raw - almost bare, naked, ugly - in the first hearings.

but then the video came and Shankar's magic rode the head of all music 
lovers and the the song instantly became likeable.

RDB's Luka Chhupi also sounded so overly emotive with bad voices of both 
Lata and ARR.

but then the video came and it touched everybody's heart in an instant. 
Eyes went wet listening to it, seeing it. Lata's voice sounded 100% 
perfectly appropriate for an old, grieving mother.

So, may be Elay is also in that genre that a video might explain the 
exact scene sequence in which the song would appear appropriate and 
perfect. Lyrics wise, this song already appears a visionary song, a 
manifesto for the new-age youth, a "message" song.

previously, I liked this social awareness part in Mehboob's lyrics. He

I too feel the Elay lyrics are quite nice.. Well one thing that didnt  
fit in was 'Lets teach to Charlie Chaplin'. If there is one comedian  
who didnt need a language to make people smile it was Chaplin..


Other than that, the lyrics are quite nice for this song.. 'Finally a  
indian song talking about Saving Gaia'

Bro Prasanna It wasnt Vaali who wrote Elay  VAALI combo with ARR has
always been a hit. Pls check before writing.

Vaali has written lyrics for Marudhaani, Munbe Vaa and they have been
terrrific hits...

The Taxi Taxi lyrics was ok in the paragraphs. but the Initial one - "Nanban
kidaithal ellam OC , Nanba - nee oru ilavasa taxi" "You get everything for
free, if you have  a friend, Oh friend, you are like a free taxi", sounds
cheap and jarring.

The paragraph lyrics are kind of cute. :)

Elay is decent.

In my opinion, The others are strictly ok.
