I would like to give the translation of the verses which r played during
the scene in the movie B'bay where Manisha leaves the house with the Holy
 Quran in her hands.

The verses r from the opening chapter of the Holy Quran 'Surah Fatiha' and
its compulsory to recite this verses in each every Namaaz (prayer). It
will also give us some idea what our man (ARR) recites during his 5 time
 prayers.

 Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahim
 .
(In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.)

 Al-humdu lillahi Rabbil Aalamiin

(Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds)

 Ar-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

 (Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 Maaliki Yawmid-Diin

(Master of the Day of Judgment)

 Iyyaaka na-budu wa iyyaaka nasta-iin

(Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek)

 Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqiim

 (Show us the straight way)

 Siraatal-laziina an amta alay-him Gayril-Magduubi alayhim walad-daaliin.
 (Aamin)

(The way of those on whom Thou has bestowed Thy Grace, those whose
(portion) is not wrath. And who go not astray.)

 Best Regards.

Hi Vithur,

Thanks for the translation. I would like to contribute the translation for
Gayatri Mantra from the Vedas.. which ARR mentioned in an interview recently.
Here goes..

GAYATRI MANTRA - ITS MEANING

AUM BHOOR BHUWAH SWAHA,
TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
BHARGO DEVASAYA DHEEMAHI
DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODAYAT.

Summary of the Gayatri Mantra
Gayatri Mantra (the mother of the vedas), the foremost mantra in hinduism and
hindu beliefs, inspires wisdom. Its meaning is that May the Almighty God
illuminate our intellect to lead us along the righteous path. The mantra is
also a prayer to the giver of light and life - the sun (savitur).

Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life,
Remover of pain and sorrow,
The Bestower of happiness,
Oh! Creator of the Universe,
May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light,
May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

I will try to compose a tune on this and post it here.

Regards,
Aakash Shah
