and Tapey3, i forgot to mention..rather i just realized.. the song "themerkku paruvakkaatru" from a bharathiraja tamil film (sung by Unnikrishnan and some female)..if you remember, there is a keyboard tune in it..kind of signature tune type...which is same as "Ketka rasika paada undrai"..both start on same scale and follow same structure..same notes too... if that is Abheri..even this is. Re: [arr] Re: Which Raga is Manmohini? - Raag Bheempalas
The beginning of Kelamal has 2 lines..of which the first goes like "ketka rasika paada undrai..." (pardon my tamil, i am not a tamilian),..as far as i can feel it..it is abheri.. Now, the 2nd line has a change in harmony (background is also stepped up, if you can notice..).. I cant vouch for that..if there is a Darbari kaanada hidden in that. Re: [arr] Re: Which Raga is Manmohini? - Raag Bheempalas vs. Hindolam
Hi! Prabhu, Inisai Mazhai from GodFather is in raag Hindolam. Hindolam is a Janya raaga of "Natabhairavi" raagam. The ascent and descent of Hindolam: S G2 M1 D1 N2 S || S N2 D1 M1 G2 S Abheri, on the otherhand is a Janya raaga of "Karaharapriya" raagam Abheriascent and descent: S G2 M1 P N2 S || S N2 D2 P M1 G2 R2 S Observe the ascent notations. You are able to discern some similarity because all the notes are same, except for P(pa), which is replaced by D1 (dha), which is just one key shift. Now, Observe the descent, the transformation from Abheri to Hindolam can be obtained if we change: D2--> D1 Introduce P Knock off R2. In all, the descent has lesser extent of overlap than the ascent where there is only a single note shift. Hence you are probably losing your way from Abheri to Hindolam. Hope this helps.
