That's how the "system" works, with the singers getting most of the 
credit.. The composer and lyricist takes the back seat - which why you 
see most albums are done by a lone singer or a group, with some 
collaborations / feats by other artists. And for Rahman, to get 
popular, especially in the pop scene, he will need to compose as well 
as sing his own songs, mostly without collaborations.. this is perhaps 
a bit of shame, as it would cut down the range of songs he can do on 
his own, as compared to what he has done in "bollywood".. Obviously 
this is not a hard and fast rule, but how many composers for let's say Madonna 
do you know off? All this warrants another question does 
Rahman want to conquer the billboard charts or is he happy doing 
movies scores?
