It is great suggestion to have a text friendly version too. Flash is good
for first time visitors viewers who belong to certain genre , but if you want
loyal customer base who come back to the site again and again , text version is
the way to go.
Does ARR Blog ? Does he want to Blog ? it is great way to relate to fans.
There are so many interviews of ARR all over the media , but one place , where
he talks to his fans about what he thinks , without being questioned would be
great. Just an idea.
You could also consider guest bloggers talking abt ARR eg would be Amir
Khan.

If it is possible look how the site behaves in Mozilla / Firefox – IE might
be big customer base , but mozilla has been catching up fast and is already a
big player. Right now primary pop ups works fine , but supplementary pop us (
eg : wall paper ) get loaded within the parent , leaving no way to navigate to
home in firefox. Text friendly version will not have any issues with firefox.
Even though you give the user the option to switch the audio off , turn it
off automatically after some time. Be context sensitive with background music –
when u navigate to an eye candy page ( eg: interactive – discography ) you can
keep the music on. When you go to pages which need attention of the user like
interviews , automatically switch off background music.
So many ARR's videos out there on internet – may be section for selected
videos – If you are space sensitive , just embed borrowed content.
Throw sample music has hidden gems in the website . Have seen people talk
abt music from Bose / Meenaxi not being a commercial success – hide samples
from those albums in the website and give info about those albums and links to
website from where they can buy these albums – in house website marketing .
There are lots of places on the flash site with the hyperlink cursor (
clickable hand ) ( eg : discography ) when there is no real content to click
on – please do look in to them . Sorry if I am cherry picking on this ; )

[arr] Re:official site

2007-11-01 Thread Ameer
I agree with Kalimuthu, Congrates and a big thanks for the team working on
the site. With BSNL broadband connection in Chennai, I find it very slow in
downloading the flash intro. of ARR site. Can we access the main manu and
contents in 5-10 seconds in a network like ours in Chennai? That will
encourage us to visit the site often

I have been thinking of writing this even since the ATM demo was uploaded in
that site.

Cheers

Googling A R Rahman yields arrahman.com on the top, beating
wikipedia.com, which is great..

BTW, are we going to have the same Flash (welcome screen) forever? I
feel Flash diminishes the seriousness of the content we are trying to
depict. But we can retain flash for samples; and other contents
wherever needed.

Secondly, many will not like Second screen being poped up when you
click 'Enter Screen'.

Shall I request you to reconsider the site design? Prehaps with less
animation, more focus on the text part (Like Google / Wikipedia),
still, retaining flash for audio contents.

Just my opinion.
