The Gentleman (Hindi) is a remake of the Tamil film Gentleman. The music is orignally composed by A.R. Rahman for the tamil version but the hindi version features the music director as Anu Malik. I was unable to find credits given to A.,R. Rahman for the music in the hindi version. All credits for the music of The Gentleman have been given to Anu Malik but the truth is that he has only composed one additional track What Is Love? and all other tracks have been orignally composed by A.R. Rahman and just the music arrangement has been done by anu Malik.
Now someone please clear my dounbts - Gentleman (Tamil) released in 1993 and The Gentleman (Hindi) released in 1994, so is The Gentleman (Hindi) an official remake and if yes were the music rights also obtained? If the music rights were obtained, so why are the music credits only given to Anu Malik and not A.R. Rahman on the VCD and CD? If the msuic has been copied or unofficially used by Anu Malik, have there been any issues or contraversies on this matter in the past? I will be greatful if someone could please clear my doubts on the whole matter. Thanks
