Fashion show that wasn’t

begin on October 3.
The fashion show was to be attended by top-notch sportspersons and CWG
brand ambassadors and AR Rahman was to be the showstopper. The composer was
supposed to wear a creation by Delhi-based designer Rajesh Pratap Singh.
But since the plan crashed at the nth hour, and the fashion show was

Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman is planning a free concert Down
Under in a bid to relieve the ongoing tension between India and Australia
following racist attacks.

The composer, who won two Academy Awards for his work on the Slumdog
Millionaire soundtrack, was devastated to hear of a series of violent
incidents involving Indian students studying in Sydney and Melbourne over
the past two months.

He’s hoping to improve international relations with music and is set to
organise a free concert in Sydney in January (10) as part of the region's
cultural festival.

Considering the recent hassles that have created a bad vibe, I thought
this concert would be a statement of peace. I hope it will do what ever it
can to reunite culturally and spiritually,” the Daily Express quoted Rahman
as saying.

“This show is very important to me. I hope it creates a bridge of
understanding and love, he added.

Thanks! Just caught it in time to see ARR perform. He did terrific and looked
dashing too!
Was that singer for Latika's theme from ARR's troupe or elsewhere?
And was the male lead dancer Raza Jaffrey? Looked a bit like him.

[arr] Premiere Show of Slumdog Millionaire in Chicago - I watched - Music mindblowing

2008-11-06 Thread Siraj K
Dear Rahmaniacs,

Yesterday, I watched premiere show of Slumdog Millionaire in Chicago
downtown.

Wow, guyz.. wow.. You guyz must watch this movie for sure; it's really
amazing; the background music is mind-blowing.

In the premiere show, only we two were Indians; others were all non-Indians.
At the end of the movie, there was few seconds gap to start End Credit. So
the crowd applauded and got up from the seat to leave the theatre. The
moment End Credit started rolling, the Jai Ho song started and all the
guyz who got up sat back again in the seat. They were all enjoying the song
like anything. At the end of song, it got great applause. It was very nice
experience watching Indian movie with american crowd.

There were lot of Press people attended the show and they gave great
applause.

Cheers,
Siraj

Professional to the core, the TWS members gave no moment to complain.
The entire show was flawless with no delay in-between two songs.
While all the singers demand applause, Pallavi Paranjape needs
special mention. She performed probably three most challenging songs

Baby – BD version. She is an amazing performer with awesome energy

But for me the most magical moment of the entire concert was the

Professional to the core, the TWS members gave no moment to complain.
The entire show was flawless with no delay in-between two songs.
While all the singers demand applause, Pallavi Paranjape needs
special mention. She performed probably three most challenging songs
of the evening – Chandralekha (in Tamil), Mayya Mayya and Shakalaka
Baby – BD version. She is an amazing performer with awesome energy
and voice range. Jasraj Joshi is another singer who calls for debate
that whether his singing is more commanding or his cool hairdo. The
trio Hrishikesh Ranade-Ashutosh Joshi-Jasaraj Joshi simply took the
stage on fire with their electrifying Yu Hi Chala Chal. Hrishikesh
Ranade is the golden voice of the concert, never missing even a
 single tone.

But for me the most magical moment of the entire concert was the
instrumental version of Swades by Pramod Gaekwad. The another ever-
lasting memory of the concert is the performance of Khwaja by the
trio. But unless and until I mention the performance of flutist
Satyajit Kelkar, this review is not complete. He is amazing with his
 flute.

People who have missed this show, wake up. TWS ended their show with
a promise to come back again this July. So, hey guyz/galz, specially
those who live in Mumbai/Maharashtra can definitely plan for a trip
down to Pune and take a plunge in the trance of Rahmania. Believe me,
it will definitely take your heart away.

 Durba

Dear Rahmaniacs,

Aahaa FM which is broadcasting Rahmania Shows every day 6 Pm to 8 Pm has
included an email option through which fans can request for songs.

The email id is [EMAIL PROTECTED] .

This would be particularly helpful for Overseas fans.

I think Raihanaji can also be reached through that id.

[arr] RAHMANIA SHOW - TIDBIT

2008-01-08 Thread Vithur
Dear All,

These were shared by Raihana during the show :-

The song Motti Vidatha in Pavithra was actually supposed to figure in
Roja. It seems Maniratnam was also involved in that song. But then later, it
was composed and placed in Pavithra .

Andrew Lloyd webber used to be very fond of ARR, and always used to wish ARR
on new Year, ARR's Bday without fail every year. He allocated a place in his
kitchen , where ARR used to keep his instruments and do the practice and
composition for Bombay Dreams .

Re: [arr] RAHMANIA SHOW - SINGER TANVI ON ARR

2007-12-17 Thread devMannemela
Thanks a lot, Vithur.
Posts like this make this group so special.

   Dear Rahmaniacs,

It gives me great pleasure in sharing the excerpts of today's Rahmania
Show . Singer Tanvi ( Jillenu oru Kadhal Song fame) was present on the show
today, and the various points which was shared today is as below :-

 1. She started singing from 13th May 2003. Her first song was Fanaa - from
the film Yuvaa ' ( Yaakai Thiri in Tamil from Ayidha ezhithu ) . After
that there was no question of looking back. She is not only a singer, but
also a costume designer. She is a proepr Chennai girl, went to the US for
graduation . There she was singing, recording in her garage, and that CD
accidentally or miraculously reached ARR. ARR called up Tanvi, and wanted
her to sing for him. He used to say Come, Sing this song for me . At the
first instance, she was pinching herself to believe if it was reall true.
After singing for ARR, she started learning Western Classical . Her mother
was a sitarist. She was basically a Gujarati Tamil.

 2. Their family were in Chennai, and their ancestors had been in Chennai
for the past 200 years. She learnt hindustani. She knew Spanish, but only
for singing purpose. ARR wanted her to come with some Spanish jibbery for
Oru Koodai Sunlight song from Shivaji . She wrote the lyrics in Spanish.
After two days, she came to know that it was a completel different song
altogether. The song was incidentall sung by her in that movie.

 3. Her mother was not a performing sitarist, bust used to play the sitar
at home. Father used to play the Dol during his school days. She had her own
Band called ' Zahera ( meaning Upcoming or Budding ) . She didn;t know
dance, but just used to take care of the rhthym. In her stay in the US, she
was staying with Egyptian Roommate, Dutch people, who were famous for Belly
Dancing. She just picked it up from them. She knows many languages,
including Arabic. She says that she is an open person, and has to go a long
way before she can be claimed a celebrity.

 4. After singing Style Song, she was part of the Chorus of One Love (
Taj ) Album of ARR . She also wrote the lyrics of ' Ek Lo Ek Muft song
with Gulzar for Guru. In that song, ARR wanted her to sing imagining herself
to be drunk. The bit she sang was ( Joyya Joyya... ) , which was recorded in
the 3rd Take. She didn't learn lryics writing. She started writing lyrics
based on the situation. If she was pushed to write in English, she told she
 would do that too.

 5. She has been doing Creative Designing; Jewellery Designing, Interiors,
Styling. i.e. Dressing up people for a show. She runs 3 stores in
Hyderabad. Her family is famous for charity. She donates 25% of her income
to the Cancer Institute, which was started by her great grandfather Shri.
Nanalal Bhatt. Her band troupe 's first show was for aiding the Cancer
Isntitute. She performs live along with her co- band player, whose name is
 Shiva.

 6. Jillenu Oru Kadhal :- Before the song came out, She was just singing
the track. They were two people. There was another girl called Sonia, who
was supposed to sing with her, but Sonia went off to Canada. Tani was very
sick, when ARR called her up, but he told that he would wait for her to
become OK, and insisted her to sing the song for him. He told that he wanted
5 voices in that song, and also the feel lile L.R. easwari, Asha Bhonsle
in that song. Tanvi brought different format styles of singing in that song
 :-

Low Octaves; High Octaves; Cartoon days; Sound of a Kitten . She was very
excited to see her song in the film. She claims that all her songs with ARR
has been a different feel. ARR uses her voice very nicely, and he proves her
potential . She even thanked him for utilising her potential, which even she
 didn;t know well.

ARR SONGS WHICH SHE LIKED THE MOST

 1. Chandralekha Song from Thiruda Thiruda - Anupama has sung that song
very well. She says that she hasn't heard that much of force anywhere

 2. Tere Bina - Guru . ARR has sung very well. Chinmayee has also sung very
 beautifully.

 3. Lukka Chuppi - Rang De Basanti - That song makes her cry everytime, she
hears it. The lyrics have been written so well resembling what a mother
feels and talks to her son.

She has also sung the Introductory Song for NEW , along with Sunitha
Sarathy. ARR wanted different noises in that song, and it was Tanvi who made
the noise Meou ( cat's sound ) , out of which came the sound new in
 that song.

Dear Rahmaniacs,

In continuation to my mail last week on Director Kadhir 's interview ,
here are the salient points of discussion that Raihana had with him
yesterday on the show. Very Interesting

  1. ARR Kadhir used to discuss a ot of lyrics. ARR liked the lyrics
Oru Poiyavadhu Sol Kanne ' ( The song from Jodi ) . Actually, this lyrics
was actually written for Kadhal Desam initially, but then was made for in
Jodi. ARR used to like the lyric for the reason it stated that atleast tell
a lie, that I am loving you . Kadhir had high respect for Kavignar Vaali,
right from MGR Times. Vaali used to ask if all six songs would be given to
him in Kadhalar dhinam , and all the six songs were great hit. The entire
story was written in the form of the songs. ARR has always been very happy
  with Vaali.

ARR + Director Kadhir + Kavignar VAali made a great team that time, and
this continued for Kadhal Virus also.

  2. How Dandiya song in Kadhalar Dhinam became a Super Hit ?.

Kadhir was sharing a Genuine feeling with ARR, and wanted a tune which
would reflect the feelings of a poor boy who goes to a metropolitan city
like Mumbai for pursuing an MBA, and is interested in seeing a Dandiya
dance. The feelings was composed superbly in that song. When ARR used to
sing the Charanam of that song, he used to forget time. Many people ( youth
) used to ring Kadhir and discuss abt the lyricas of Nenaichapadi song and
Dandiya Song from Kadhalar dhinam .

  3. Kadhir has never learnt music. But he says that its more important to
feel music, rather than just learn it. Music should be derived out of
  inspiration.

List of Favourite Songs of Kadhir

  1. SPB Song in Kadhal Virus -  Enthan Vaani Aadum  ;
  2. Dhandiya Song - Kadhalar Dhinam
  3. Ennai Kaanavillaye - Kadhal Desam
  4. Uzhavan - Kangalil Enna eeramo

Kadhir had very inspirational relationship with his parents. They loved
him very much, and had been their motivation, inspiration.

  4. How do you picturise ARR Songs ?.

Its a big challenge picturising Songs. *People get attracted, only if
the songs are picturised well, and the expectations of picturisation are
  very high for ARR Songs.*

For eg :- The Song Hello Doctor in Kadhal Desam has been difficult to
shoot. 40 people were tied to strings, and happen to be in a state of Coma
in the song. The Dandiya song from Kadhalar Dhinam was very difficult to
shoot. The song MUsthafa Musthafa was picturised for 2 1/2 days.

The Song Ennai Villai Azhage ' in Kadhalar dhinam was shot in
Australia, as the producer wanted atleast one song to be shot abroad. *ARR
liked the picturisarion of the song. *During those times, all lovers
used to buy the CDs of Kadhalar Dhinam.

  5. Kadhir says that every Director should have the following to make
  their film a big hit.

  i) Good Producer
  ii) Good Music Director
  iii) Good Lyric Writer
  iv) Good Camera Man

*I have been blessed by ARR in my films. It was a great blessing for my
  life time. *

Actually, this lyrics
was actually written for Kadhal Desam initially, but then was made for in
Jodi. ARR used to like the lyric for the reason it stated that atleast
   tell
a lie, that I am loving you . Kadhir had high respect for Kavignar
   Vaali,
right from MGR Times. Vaali used to ask if all six songs would be given to
him in Kadhalar dhinam , and all the six songs were great hit. The entire
story was written in the form of the songs. ARR has always been very happy
   with Vaali.

ARR + Director Kadhir + Kavignar VAali made a great team that time,
and this continued for Kadhal Virus also.

Many people (
   youth
) used to ring Kadhir and discuss abt the lyricas of Nenaichapadi song and
Dandiya Song from Kadhalar dhinam .

   3. Kadhir has never learnt music. But he says that its more important
to feel music, rather than just learn it. Music should be derived out of
   inspiration.

   4. Uzhavan - Kangalil Enna eeramo

Kadhir had very inspirational relationship with his parents. They
loved him very much, and had been their motivation, inspiration.

   4. How do you picturise ARR Songs ?.

Its a big challenge picturising Songs. *People get attracted, only if
the songs are picturised well, and the expectations of picturisation are
   very high for ARR Songs.*

For eg :- The Song Hello Doctor in Kadhal Desam has been difficult
to shoot. 40 people were tied to strings, and happen to be in a state of
Coma in the song. The Dandiya song from Kadhalar Dhinam was very difficult
to shoot. The song MUsthafa Musthafa was picturised for 2 1/2 days.

The Song Ennai Villai Azhage ' in Kadhalar dhinam was shot in
Australia, as the producer wanted atleast one song to be shot abroad.
*ARR liked the picturisarion of the song. *During those times, all
lovers used to buy the CDs of Kadhalar Dhinam.

  1. Kadhir is used to do something new all the time. Either he introduces
new actresses or heroes in his movies. His first movie was Idhayam , in
which he introduced Actress Heera ( thiruda Thiruda Heroine ), and also
introduced Prabhu Deva, Raju Sundaram in the same. He knew ARR right from
Roja Fame, and was waiting for the right opportunity to get assosociated

  2. After Idhayam, he was in search of a new Music Director for his new
film Kadhal desam. His very first meeting with ARR, he started liking him.
ARR was playing the guitar for the song Chinna Chinna Aasai Kadhal Rojave
( Roja ) . Kadhir was impressed by these songs, that he decided and
desperately wanted ARR for his movies. At that time, his salaray levels were
very low, and he wanted to book ARR for his movies, by paying him some
advanceof Rs. 10,000 /-. So he borrowed this money from his friend. The
first story that was discussed was Kadhal Desam, though Uzhavan got released
  first.

  3. All Kadhir's stories stem out of real happenings, which usually
happen in every layman's life. All nomral life events spark his creativity
  towards making a film.

  How Uzhavan Happened ??

Kadhir was working as an Asst Director with Sivaji Films. At that time,
Ramkumar ( Prabhu's elder brother; Sivaji's elder son ) approached him with
a new story. He also wanted songs to be fresh. And Uzhavan happened, in
which the songs were completely new and the BGM was fantastic. ( Kadhir
liked the BGM more than the songs, and was excited praising about the same
). It was totally special for him.

Getting ARR's date was very difficult, as every director wanted to Book
ARR for their films. Kadhir was moving with ARR like his friend, and ARR
used to ask Kadhir for poems everytime they met.

  4. Kadhir always used to ask ARR for newer tunes, but was cautios not to
tell that he wanted tunes like Roja etc , as ARR never liked talking abt one
particular tune, which has already been composed, while composing a newer
one. They had gone to Dargha, Dined so many tiems. But Kadhir always knew
his limits, and never wanted to cross his limits in terms of friendship.

  5. ARR was fond of Kadhir, which Kadhir attrbutes to God's Gift. More
than being a professional, ARR was always friendly. Kadhir used to feel
inspired seeing Rahman; thus seeing him as a role model

  6. The same simplicity continues with ARR, as what he was at that time.
Never does ARR talk abt his own laurels, awards, and never sleeps without
  getting the right sound.

  7. As fasr as BGMs are concerned, Kadhir just screens the movie to
Rahman, and ARR comes out with his scores, which are always liked by the
particular Director. The BGms just flows out of ARR. ARR not onyl uses the
Pallavi of the songs, but also the Charanam of the songs for his BGMs. The
correct Blend is achieved in his BGMs, with that mushc of perfection.

  8. Kadhir always used to feel abt College farewell, as he himself has
shed tears when he got seperated from his college mates, and he wanted the
same feeling in Kadhal Desam, and thus aroused the famous MUSTHAFA MUSTHAFA
Song, which pleased Kadhir like anything.

No simple words to say it..
Its like a super duper blockbuster!!!
I have never seen such an aural and visual effect till now.
Expectations are always there for an ARR show but this has surly
scaled something I have never imagined.
This proves that why ARR is such a huge musical superstar.
Right from beginnning everything has taken my breath away..
All the Musicians, Singers, dancers, screens and pyrotechniques..
and ARR himself.. all rocked all thru.
I dont even remember what all songs did they play.. but each is a
 master piece.
People in the theatre went berserk.. frenzy.. jumping out of the seats
 screaming
 shouting for ARR..
Imagine 7000+ crowd in a huge stadium all dancing for a live number.
Man.. Its a dream come true.. of 15 years..
 Long live A.R.Rahman..
 Unparalleled Artists.
I sincerely salute and bow to his artistry and professionalism.

I donno how I can sleep now..
However, I cdnt meet the maestro but may be I cdnt have handled it.

[arr] A.R.Rahman show + Chicago

2007-05-23 Thread Kiran Maringanti
Guys,

I accidentally purchased 2 tickets for A.R.Rahman show in Chicago, whilst i was
supposed to buy it for the Atlanta show. I spoke to the organizers and they
said it cannot be refunded or shifted to the atlanta show. The tickets are $70
tickets.

If anyone is purchasing tickets for Chicago show, can you take these tickets
and buy tickets for the atlanta show OR if anyone is interested in taking these
tickets for the chicago show, please do let me know.

Guys, I am just like u, not any ticket broker or something. I am not trying to
make money or something. I am just trying to fix a mistake.

Regards

Kiran

[arr] LOTR show on Feb. 4 (in Toronto)

2006-01-11 Thread Eric
Hi all,

I've bought tickets to go to the LOTR musical on Saturday, February 4
(it's the opening weekend, maybe ARR might be there!). I've bought
the tickets back in May 2005 and now the person accompanying me cannot
make it to the show.

Since the ticket is non-refundable, I was wondering whether any
Canadian/American ARR fan will be interested in purchasing my spare
ticket.

I've got 3 weeks left to find someone...

If interested or know anyone who might be interested, please let me
know. You can email me at: ambroise_e @ hotmail.com

Thanks,

Eric
