it is utter foolishness if it was done so. How can they match whatever 
steps or songs music and lyrics with lip syning later on. They can 
only put a background song/ music over such a scene.

Well, You never know :)

Have you not heard from Danny Boyle that the Jai Ho song shoot was done with 
some other song and later ARR changed that on his own.. and the director was 
amazed how the song suited the visuals and even steps of the dancers! :)

Perhaps its not a lip-synch song (remember how Jai Ho was shot and then 
replaced?)
However, the articles seems exaggerated to great extent (stuff like they had to 
visit London and track down ARR to get hold of him)
