Subject: Older Business time process broken by patch 020?

** WARNING: We (BMC support eng and I) believe we may have found a new
issue with the latest patch (020). In fixing the DST bug, they may have
affected (broke) an older process.

Process name Application-Bus-Time-Diff appears to now be broken.

If you want to test the process yourself, I have included the def file
here. simply copy the block of code below and paste it into a notepad
file. If you open the form +SS:Test, enter any characters into the
character field and hit save, the process attempts to perform a
calculation. On our 6.0.1 servers, it passed. On a 6.03.00 patch 020
server, it results in a popup ARERROR [639] No Workday form could be
found on the server

Good luck, and if anyone else out there has run into this, PLEASE let me
know at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED]

javascript to make login upper case.

2007-02-04 Thread Rocky Rockwell

Folks,

I could have sworn that I saw something in the list to change the lower
case login id upper case for the mid-tier. Now I cannot find it. I even
looked in the arslist archives and could not find it.

Could someone send this again, I need to do basically the same thing
except make it lower case.

Thanks in advance

Re: javascript to make login upper case.

2007-02-04 Thread Dylan
Got this by searching the list, it was posted 10/3/2005

Add this into the file login_common.jsp:

 this.document.loginForm.username.value =

this.document.loginForm.username.value.toLowerCase(this.document.loginForm.u
sername.value);

 Just before the line: document.loginForm.submit();

Re: javascript to make login upper case.

2007-02-04 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
Edit the login.jsp and add the onChange action to the username field.
This way the moment they get off the field it will upper case for them
on the screen.

input type=text NAME=username id=username-id maxlength=30
value=%=name%
  class=Login size=20 onChange=javascript:this.value =
this.value.toUpperCase();

If you want to lower case it use toLowerCase instead of toUpperCase.

Re: ARS 7.0.1 Install crashes - Solved

2007-02-04 Thread Joel Sender
Thanks to everyone who responded to me directly.
Although I don't know why you didn't reply directly to the ARSlist, I
appreciate your thoughts.

There were two errors:
1. I was on a brand new Win2003 server and didn't change the Windows Manager
default to NOT hide 'System Files'. This prevented my search for *.log
files to not find the install log. When I manually looked in the
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\... I found the log
file.
2. The log showed that the ARS install couldn't connect to the database. The
SQL 2003 database was also set to the default of Authenticate with Windows
only, but I was using the SA password (which I had just set). I changed the
SQL authorization to accept both Windows SA authentication, and the
install proceeded OK.

Bottom line: check the defaults!

Subject: ARS 7.0.1 Install crashes

Hi all,
Here's why the few hairs I have left are grey:

New win 2003 sp1 server (all ms updates), SQL 2000 (std):
I installed the User Admin tools OK.

When I attempt to install ARS 7.0.1 p1 (server.exe), after
the last prompt (SA password) the install disappears. No
log files, no event log entries, nothing!

Same result with Symatec AV disabled and windows 'data
execution prevention' set to 'windows only'.

Same result with 'net ops' or on the actual console.
Same result if unicode is specified or not.

Same result with ARS 7.0.1 server.exe (no patch)
Same result on an identical server (intending to use SQL
on 1st server).

Note that the install CD (burned from a download) and today's
direct download to the server are both the same size, AND
both failed the same way.

I suspect that there's a windows setting causing this, but the
local SysAdmins (who seem real sharp) are at a loss.

BMC Support reports never having seen this behavior before. My
Case has been escalated to their next level. I've raised the
escalation to the ARSlist.

BTW, I havn't had this much difficulty installing ARS since I
had to use diskettes for ARS 2.0 on a unix box ...

Thankx in advance,
Joel

Uninstall of 7.0.x client w/ Crystal may cause corruption of MSFT apps

2007-02-04 Thread Easter, David
Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know of a new defect found with the
un-installation of the 7.0.x client that seems pretty serious. Here's
the description:
Bug Number

SW00257321

Description

Uninstall of the 7.x user tool may cause MS Office 2003 or MS Visual
Studio to stop working if the Crystal Reports option was selected at the
time of installation. The issue does not occur if you have not
installed Crystal Reports with the Windows User Tool. If Microsoft
Office 2003 or MS Visual Studio is affected, the machine must be rolled
back to a known restore point or re-imaged to repair the corruption.
This has been found to be a problem with the Business Objects Crystal
redistributable that is bundled with the user tool. The corruption
occurs when the uninstall script of the Crystal MSI is called by the BMC
Windows User Tool uninstaller.

This issue will be addressed in the short term by disabling the Crystal
Reports uninstaller in AR System 7.0.01 Patch 002 WUT uninstall script.
But the problem remains in all previous version and patches of the 7.x
user tool. In addition, an entry for Crystal Reports will still appear
in the Add/Remove software section of the Windows Control Panel.
Running the uninstall from the control panel or from a previous version
of the 7.x user tool will cause this issue to occur. BMC is working
with Business Objects to resolve this issue. Until this problem is
permanently resolved, BMC suggests that you do not uninstall the 7.x
user tool and instead, install over the top of an existing user tool.

Thanks,

-David J. Easter
Sr. Product Manager, Service Management Business Unit
BMC Software, Inc.

6.0, SLA 6.0, Change Management 6.0 with CMDB and HP UX 11i machine, with 4000
active users and 800 support profiles? Currently we have 2 CPU and 4 GB RAM.
So, in ideal case what should be the RAM size ?
