Re: ARS v7.5 P3 and P7 client - Crystal Report issue on field value

2010-10-14 Thread Matt Reinfeldt
Susan,

A couple thoughts:

. Delete all of your .arf and .arv files

. Build a simple test report from scratch, pulling those two fields
in particular, and add it to the report repository... run and test it from
within the UT

. Install a 7.6.03 User Tool and see how the report(s) behave in it

. Validate the version of the AR System ODBC Driver

. Make sure all the "little" settings are the same as the used to
be: 'Use Underscore' option, TCP Port, DSN Configuration, etc.

. Use ARAPILOGGING to capture the API call and results

Good luck with it!

Subject: ARS v7.5 P3 and P7 client - Crystal Report issue on field value

**

Hi everyone,

We have built a new v7.5 server from scratch. Imported the objects from our
current Prod server and synced the data from Prod using rrrchive.

We have numerous Crystal Reports and they do execute and produce results.

But, we have one Crystal Report that has a wierd thing occurring. There is
a selection field that have word values of IP and Modem ADR. We've been
using this report for years and it has always displayed the value correctly.

When we run the report with a v7.5 client it replaces the value IP with the
word Dual and replaces Modem ADR with the word Regular. These values don't
even exist on the form. It's doing it against a 7.5 server and against a
7.0.1 server.

If I run the report directly in the Crystal Reports application from either
server the correct value appears.

We tried the v7.5 client Patch 3 and now Patch 7 with the same results.
Have used PCs with XP and Windows 7.

I completely rebuilt the Report entry record and the active link calling the
report.

Any ideas or have you seen anything like this? I would sure appreciate some
help with this.

Thanks,

Susan

How to go about Implementing the ITIL Processes when ther is not process in Place?

2010-10-14 Thread Matt Clarke
Hello Fellow Arlisters!!!

I have a Unique Challenge in Implementing and Configuring the Remedy ITSM
product for our client. As of now, there is no Formal Process in place, for
managing service desk, change management(they are using a Word template
which goes across different groups for releasing a Change request).

If anyone had the responsibility to Implement the ITIL Incident Management
and Change Management processes how did you guys go about educating the
users and Implementing it?

Your response would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Mid-Tier Report File Destination doesn't work

2010-10-14 Thread Brien Dieterle
I think this is a frequent question-- we fixed ours by opening the
ReportType Form, and for the AR System record make the "Run Command":

/servlet/NativeReportServlet?O=$RPTOP$&U=$USR$&P=$PWD$&Q=$RPTQUERY$&QR=$RPTQOVR$&S=$RPTSVR$&F=$RPTFORM$&VW=$RPTVIEW$&VWEXT=$RPTVIEWEXT$&APP=$RPTAPP$&R=$RPTNAME$&RF=$RPTFILE$&LOC=$LOC$&TZ=$TIMEZONE$&LNG=$LANGUAGE$&CTRY=$COUNTRY$&enc=$RPTENC$&DT=$RPTDEST$&CS=$RPTCHARSET$

If you compare the value to what you have now, you'll notice some
missing parameters on yours. Apparently this is an upgrade problem that
the installer misses.

Cheers,
Brien

As a first timer last year, I experienced a very welcoming group who
collectively want to share, learn and have a good time. You will be in
good company - so listen, absorb, network and "double down" when you can
;-) You will not regret attending.

There are plenty of great sessions this year and below is a little
preview of what we are going to showcase at WWRUG. Stop by our booth and
say hello. See everyone next week!

Seamless is releasing the beta version of their "Apps to Ops Datapump"
aka, "CollabNet TeamForge to BMC Atrium CMDB connector". The integration
and product is based on the Seamless Universal Connector Platform using
the CollabNet API's. It provides synchronization of the SCM/ALM (Source
Code Mgt / Application Lifecycle Mgt) artifacts from the software
(application) development teams (including links to projects, packages,
and releases, etc) to CollabNet's Team Forge/Subversion and subversion.

The integration enables an exciting end-to-end use cases for application
lifecycle management, automation control and defect tracking; providing
real-time visibility and traceability from IT operations (Service Desk,
Asset Mgt, Change Mgt, App Release Mgt, etc..) to development (app-dev),
by user or objects. This integration/product can show ROI value in 46
minutes after installation, and is easy to implement. Best of all, as
with all of the Seamless products www.seamlessti.com/products.html, it
runs in real-time, so your CMDB/CMS data is accurate.

Seamless is currently looking for beta customers who are on version
Remedy/Remedy or SDE SaaS / ITSM 7.x+ and CMDB 7.x/2.x+ customers and
CollabNet TeamForge platform (as SaaS, On-Demand or on-premise).

Yes, the IT Service Management Suite Solution Pack (known internally to
BMC as "blue pricing") includes the SRM application. You then need to
purchase user capacity for the application - either through end user
self-service licenses, the ITSM Suite user license, or through the
Service Management Specialist user license - depending on your needs.

Hi Claire,

It depends what you mean by "ITSM 7.6.3 package".

SRM is included in the IT Service Management Suite Solution Pack. You
get all the Service Support applications as part of the Solution Pack
and then purchase capacity against the applications you plan to use.

SRM is not included with the ITSM applications themselves sold a la
carte under legacy pricing (i.e. the selling model that isn't Suite

Oh that's not good then. Sync will not work because it is taking the
CMDB class and creating/ updating the AST form with CMDB changes. I
think you need to rip out CMDB and reinstall it, there is no telling
what else may be missing seeing as how Computer System is missing.

Re: ITSM and SRM

2010-10-14 Thread Easter, David
Hi Claire,

It depends what you mean by "ITSM 7.6.3 package".

SRM is included in the IT Service Management Suite Solution Pack. You get all
the Service Support applications as part of the Solution Pack and then purchase
capacity against the applications you plan to use.

SRM is not included with the ITSM applications themselves sold a la carte under
legacy pricing (i.e. the selling model that isn't Suite oriented).

Open CMDB Console, goto Reconciliation jobs, select History, then run
the Sandbox job (the full name eludes me at the moment). I also
scheduled ours to run every two hours so I don't have to manually run

Yes, I am sure you have all registered for the conference by now if you are
going, but since I know you aren't all going I still hope some of you get a
last minute reprise and are free to go to the Best event of the year for BMC
Remedfy AR System information.

Just want to let you know that our room block has been extended to tomorrow
night so you can still book rooms (the weekend before the conference is a real
deal).

Lenny, Phil and Kelly have done a spectacular job in getting great
tutorial(long morning sessions), general (one hour long afternoon sessions) and
Vendor Showcase content.
We have several vendors that have never been at a show in North America before!

I am trying to mark out which sessions ones I will get to, it isn't easy to
eliminate conflicts.
Too much good stuff.

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday.

Using the Reconciliation engine, create the jobs necessary to do that.
There should be some sample ones in place for you to use as a guide.

When user enter the info (programmer/Blackberry/t...@xyz.com) and submit,

Is this possible to implement this requirement in SRM? any ideas could be

Hi,

Which version are you on? My experience with this is mainly from the good
odl Admin-tool.

Have you tried exporting the FLTR to a def-file? I recommend an XML-file
in this case, to simplify editing.

If you find the text in there, try to replace it with the field-id and
reimport it.

Hello List,

I and my co-worker are planning to attend RUG in Vegas (yeah finally :)). Now,
this is the first time both of us are attending this event.

What are some of things that we need to watch out for as the first time
attendees? Any suggestions?

Thanks and I look forward to see you in Vegas!

cn=schema,cn=configuration,dc=marba,dc=com

add error on entry starting on line 85: Referral
Ther server side error is: 0x202b A referal was retruned from the server.
The extended server error is:

SOLVED (Kinda): Crystal Server 2008 Setup

2010-10-14 Thread Luttmann, Michael W CTR USA NETCOM/9TH SC A 7TH SC
We were able to get the website pages working on a test server, where
some of the default group policy restrictions and permissions were
rolled back. So it's for sure a local permissions problem.

Thanks for the input from all.

I don't know how you set this up, and I am still on Crystal Reports
Server XI not 2008 (which I heard somewhere was actually not compatible
with mid-tier - or at least the licensing was not), but are you running
mid-tier on the tomcat web, NOT IIS, and Crystal on .NET, NOT java? In
my experience keeping crystal on .NET and IIS and mid-tier on tomcat jvm
AND web eliminates almost all problems with shared resources (there are
none).

Joe,

No, this is not a Mid-Tier issue. Mid-Tier works fine.

This is specifically for what used to be our "InfoView" website (which
my customer used, until it broke) and related "CMC" or "Business Objects
Launchpad" (now "CmcApp"?) configuration pages. None of them work, not
even from the server itself.

By "configuration pages" do you mean the Mid-Tier Configuration pages?

If so, if you do not have any customizations to any of the Mid-Tier jsp
pages, feel free to reinstall it. It will not impact your applications.

If you have made customizations, document these changes, so you can copy
them to the OTB jsp pages after re-installing the Mid-Tier application..

If you do not mean the Mid-Tier "configuration pages", what pages are
you talking about?

Odd problem during AR System upgrade

2010-10-14 Thread Ian Trimnell

Greetings,

I have just had fun upgrading our development server to the latest patch
level of AR System 7.5.00 (patch 007). We are on Windows 2003 Server &
MS SQL 2005, but I don't that is relevant to this.

My first attempt to upgrade failed saying that it could not install AR
System (I had chosen to upgrade all the install items including the
Client, Developer, Approval, Email, Mid Tier & Flashboards). However,
it did install the binary as when I ran the client and checked the
server configuration it reported that it was version patch 007.

I checked a few things and re-ran the installer. Again it failed.

Looking at the installation log file I managed to discover which part
failed, but not why. I decided to attempt to run the command that
whinged and studied the output. And there it told me what the actual
problem was.

I had an escalation reserved that the upgrade wanted to overwrite. I
released the escalation and the install kit ran happily.

I went back and read the README file that came with the patch and I even
read the Installation Guide (just to check things) but nowhere does it
warn you to replace any reserved forms or pieces of workflow.

Unless someone can point me to the right section of the installation
guide or the read me document then I plan to submit a request for a
documentation change.

Cheers,

Ian

SAVE feature only works on web

2010-10-14 Thread T Wang
Never seen this problem before, I am new on this contract and they are
having problem where a Change Request can only be save over the web, but on
the WUT, SAVE button is always disable and the SET-Change-Flag is always off
no matter what you do.

This is not per individual account or permission, we give all kinds of
permissions to a test account i.e permission Change Master, role as Change
Manager/Approver and still produce the same problem. WUT version and ITSM
version is the same, BMC support is still helping, but it have been about a
week now and I just thought that someone in here might have already ran into
this kind of problem. I have also tried to look at the Request ID or even
in Change Infrastructure ID and don't see anything that were wrong with it.
Any help would be appreciate.

Windows 2008 64 bits, SQL Server 2005, ARS 7.6.3, ITSM 7.6.3, Midtier 7.6.3

Thanks in advance.

You need to create a macro which has the required qualification and the fields

You need to select the fields you require in the report style and save the

Hello Kali,

I'm currently running 7.5 so this fix may not work for you.

You can view reports by replacing the Crystal reports with AR System
versions. To do this search the Reports form in the user tool and find the
form calling the report. In my case it was HPD:helpdeskreportjoin.

Now all of my print buttons work!
