To Do List for new Developer?

2011-08-24 Thread Sam Cerrato
I'm not sure if this is where this request should go so if it is not, I
apologize in advance.

I've been a Remedy Administrator for almost 12 years. During that time I've
done mostly Administration work and have dabbled in Development duties as well.
I've also performed Training of Remedy users as well as other Remedy
Administrators (working for BMC Software as an Education Consultant).

So now I'm working on a project where I'm doing a combination of Development
(installing ITSM Suite 7.6.04 to replace HEAT) as well as CMDB duties (with the
help of a Configuration Manager when the time comes) and Administration but I'd
say it's more like 75% Development work to begin. I will also be administering
and configuring the applications. Yes a LOT of stuff on my plate.

My manager asked me to find out if anyone has a list of Tasks they perform
when doing an implementation so I will know all of the things that have to be
completed to get Remedy up and running. The first thing we are doing is
replacing HEAT with Remedy Incident Management. We are going to be installing
Remedy in a Windows Server 2008 environment using MS SQL 2010 Standard.

If anyone has anything they can send me to help out, I'd really appreciate it
and again I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this message.

Thanks,
Sam

I have a BMC Remedy Developer Studio 7.5.00 Quick Reference that shows

Anyone know if there is a more recent or more complete comparison?

I got some bespoke filter notification that is incorrect and difficult to
debug. The notification is generated by a set of filters on HPD:Helpdesk. The
final filter generates and sends the email. The TO, CC, and email body is
correct. The same filter got AR Task and Web URL clicked. The filter should
then attached a AR Task as a link for the user tool and add a web URL. It
should then reference the same ticket.

Here is the problem. The attached AR Task and Web URL is linked to a different
ticket. The subject and email body are correct. These notification filters are
executed in sequence with execution order between 800-806. The server and
client side filter log show clearly that there is no other filters executing on
the same execution order.

Any tips?

Note that when you turn this on you need to restart the AR Server for it to
start recording the relationships, and your restart will take unusually long,
and may lock your users from able to perform any operations on that server
until the process of recording object relationships is completed..

I agree with you. The entry ID used when generated the AR Task and URL should
still reference the same ticket. By activating / clicking on the attachment or

Incident work logs sometimes replicate

2011-08-24 Thread Boyd, Rebecca
ITSM 7.5, SRM 7.6

When an incident with a related Service Request and at least one public work
log moves from Pending back to Assigned, every public work log replicates.
If there are 5 public work logs, 5 new identical entries are created in
HPD:Worklog.

No new records are created in SRM:WorkInfo. I think something is telling SRM
to push all of its work logs to Incident but I can’t seem to pin it down.

I’ve found mention of similar issues but no solutions. Any ideas?

Try the following -

Modify the active link SHR:SHR:SaveActivity_120_ClearFld
In the Execution Options add z3Btn_Add_to_Activity_History to the Button/Menu

Flush Mid-Tier Cache

See if this fixes it.

Take a look at the ar.ini file and see if there are any values set to 18. I
don't see any reference to number of pages.

You could delete the ar.ini file and it will recreate it when the wut is
re-launched. Be warned the wut setting will be set back to the default.

Just to make sure, the printer driver isn't set to 18 copies?

There is no workaround other than to cancel the print job after the first copy
is finished printing. The end-user that was going to be impacted the most has
simply refused to upgrade from XP. If you can print to SCREEN and then print
this issue does not crop up.
As far as an update, BMC closed our ticket and submitted a defect to Business

Re: 7.6.04 shutdown tomcat

2011-08-24 Thread patrick zandi
That stupid SLM collector would not shutdown..
and I am finding weird stuff with this too..

So if I shutdown ARS / and TOMCAT there is an extra JAVA instance left up
again.. Errr...
Also SLM collector continues to run.. so you try and use the /etc/arsystem
monitor.conf /slmpath/execute stop and it does not work.
so you do the kill -9 which works..
BUT when starting arsystem start .. it does not startup..
...
wow.. so this stuff is not linked to startup and shutdown together.. it is
all individually started and stopped..

I was a little quick on that statement.. it did startup.. it took an extra
few min.. .. my bad...
slm just does not shutdown manually.. I will have to play with that..

Yup. That's just ONE of the reasons that I gave up and stuck the SLM Collector
on its own tomcat instance on some bizarre port of its own. If you don't,
upgrading either mid-tier or SLM will trash the other.

 ** Andre,

 Thanks.

I checked the active link it is correct; it has the button in the
 execution options.

I just heard from BMC. This may be a known defect.

 Hi Rebecca,

This sounds familiar to what we had in our setup.

 Try the following -

 Modify the active link SHR:SHR:SaveActivity_120_ClearFld
In the Execution Options add z3Btn_Add_to_Activity_History to the
 Button/Menu Field
 Flush Mid-Tier Cache

 See if this fixes it.

 Thanks,

 Andre
