Warren,
Depending on the number of reports and number of variables they want to search
by.
You can build a display only form to run reports from
On the form a field to select (from a menu) pre-defined reports.
And Variable fields as need (ie. Start Date, End Date, Assigned To, Category,
ect...)
Use ALs to display the variable fields needed for the report selected.
Users fill in the variable fields and click a Run Report button.
Each report has a dedicated AL (Run if Qual) to Open Window (Report)
Use the Variable fields to compose the Qualification for the report in the AL.

We just moved off of an ARS 6.3 client based installation. I am now getting a
ton of questions about reporting. The Mid Tier manuals appendixes infer that
you can still build reports with embedded qualifications that use parameters.
However whenever I try to do it, I get an error.

I'd like to be able to do something like 'Submit Date' = $StartDateHere$ AND
'Submit Date' $EndDate+1Here$.

This was never an issue in the client, but now...whoo boy! I've got a helpdesk
staffer who is in charge of creating reports that he is sharing with his
management, but they hate the fact that they have to run a search, select
records, then choose a report. They want to be able to just run the report

I know it's possible with the BIRT tool, but we're just not there yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: ITSM Upgrade completed with warnings - In fact failed to upgrade

2015-03-17 Thread Nagidi Pavan
Hi Aditya,

Thank you very much for your reply. Please find my answers below.

1) Which database you have? If you have Oracle, did you check for INVALID
objects while installing/upgrading?
ANS: Oracle, How do we checked INVALID objects by the below query and it
fetched almost 65 entries
select object_name,object_type,status from user_objects where
status='INVALID';

Any suggestions to correct them is highly appreciated, also I would like to
know why they are INVALID. How to troubleshoot that?

2) Hope you must have seen ITSM install log files, but would again suggest
you to look through logs and find out which .def failed to import. For ex
chg_deplapp.def etc
ANS: Fixed all most all the issues that we could see in the logs. The
issues which we are seeing now is while importing
CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface form, which doesnot exist in 7.6.03 but
seems like newly added in 8.1.02

3) Go through all INC/PBM/CHG and import all the failed def files.
ANS: imported all the def files related to INC and PBM only facing issues
while importing chg_deplapp.def and especially with
CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface form.

4) If you are facing issues with specific form import also - suggest you to
modify them, save changes and again try to import them.
ANS: Since we are only facing issues with CHG:ChangeRelationshipinterface
form, is that fine modifying that form?
My only concern is the above mentioned form does not exist in 7.603. We are
upgrading ITSM from 7.6.03 to 8.1.02.

Please let me now your thoughts and any suggestions to move forward!!

Thanks once again.

 Hi William,

 Firstly, thanks for your response.

Below was done prior to ITSM upgrade.

 1) We have upgraded AR Server from 7.6.04 to 8.1.02 without any issues.
 2) Ran BPCU in overlay mode to preserve our customizations
 3) Upgraded Atrium Core successfully from 7.6.03 to 8.1.02
 4) Upgraded ITSM from 7.6.03 to 8.1.02 successfully after fixing
issues with field mappings using the option Only copy CI attributes from
 CDM to ITSM Foundation.
 5) Restarted upgrade once again with the option Upgrade to 8.1.02 but
don not remove CI attributes from CDM. After 13 hours we got the results
as BMC Remedy ITSM Suite 8.1.02 install completed with warnings.

I believe I am going in the correct direction. Please advise.

Re: Service Request Scheduler Design

2015-03-17 Thread Stanley Feinstein
Hi Chad,

We did an application like this several years ago but started it from Asset
Management, rather than a Service Request.

The application was for managing scheduled and unscheduled asset outages. For
each asset or class of assets, the user would specify the frequency and when
the asset should come off-line for maintenance, who was responsible for the
asset outage, and the template to be used. Frequency could be daily, weekly,
semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly or annually. For example, you could say the
asset should come off-line the 2nd Sunday of the quarter at 2PM. Then, using
the template specified, our ActionProgram Manager Plus would calculate a
schedule using the 2nd Sunday of the Quarter at 2PM as the target date. Some
tasks in the template need to be performed before the target date and some
after the target date. A week before the first task was to be performed, the
person responsible would be notified so that he or she could assign people to
the tasks. The assignments would be in the person's to-do list / console. The
work schedule would be during prime shift but the work could be done at any
time.

The person would work the task, status the task, enter their time against the
task (optionally) and update the related asset record. All of the tasks would
be on the relationship tab of the asset record so you could see the work done
against the asset. If they were capturing time, the hours could be multiplied
by a rate so you could see the labor cost against each asset. This approach
gives you a more complete Total Cost of Ownership of each asset.

It was very cool. Of course, all of this could be done from a Service Request
or Change or some other form. It's a major benefit of being Remedy-based.

Please give me a call off-line if you want to talk more about this.

Thanks.

Subject: Service Request Scheduler Design

Happy Friday Everyone,

Looking for feedback on a project kicking off soon. Any documentation or
examples is welcome as well.

Background: This is a non ITSM environment. ARS 7.6.04

We have a requirement to retire a ootb java based application which automates
the scheduling of SR's. Basically it creates the SR with fields requester,
category, description, etc. SR is a option on the form on the ticket form.

The current application design

1. Ability to schedule a starting date.
2. A repeat interval of Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly. All of these
have options. The days during the week are all (Mon-Sun).

Hourly
You can specify how many hours the SR is occurs(For example generate every 2
hours) and on what days during the week it is allowed to run. Minimum 1 hr
value.
Daily
You can specify how many days the SR occurs(For example generate every 2 days)
and on what days during the week it is allowed to run.
Weekly
You can specify how many weeks the SR occurs(For example generate every 2
weeks) Monthly You can specify how many months the SR occurs(For example
generate every 2 months), on what days during the week it is allowed to run,
and what week it is allowed to run (1st,2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Last) Yearly You can
specify how many years the SR occurs(For example generate every 2 years)

3. Ending Date
You can specify a end date to the schedule, no end date, end after occurrences.

4. Requester Information
Nothing out of the ordinary.

In experimenting, I was able to calculate the next run time on the options of
Weekly and Yearly based upon the SR occurrence. This is based off Starting
Date using DATEADD function. I have two fields using this Last Run Date and
Next Run Date. I believe in order to correctly process, at least one table
will need to be added. Rows in the table will be next run date, last run date,
Integer Field to hold day of week using WEEKDAY function. Then walk the table
to the next run date check the int value against what is allowed for that day.

For the ending date, a counter that would hold occurrences if used to decrement
if End After x occurrences was used.

End Result would be a push fields to the ticket form.

Thanks,
Chad Wilhelm

As far as I know and seen, Variables (Popped up) is not possible.
the only way is the choose field, =; value in the form under the report
console.
you can create pre configured reports and put them out there on the
console as a menu.

There are ways to give them prebuilt Query's in the form as well, which
might help.

As far as I know and seen, Variables (Popped up) is not possible.
the only way is the choose field, =; value in the form under the report
 console.
you can create pre configured reports and put them out there on the
 console as a menu.

There are ways to give them prebuilt Query's in the form as well, which
 might help.

We just moved off of an ARS 6.3 client based installation. I am now
getting a ton of questions about reporting. The Mid Tier manuals
appendixes infer that you can still build reports with embedded
qualifications that use parameters. However whenever I try to do it, I get
 an error.

I'd like to be able to do something like 'Submit Date' = $StartDateHere$
 AND 'Submit Date' $EndDate+1Here$.

This was never an issue in the client, but now...whoo boy! I've got a
helpdesk staffer who is in charge of creating reports that he is sharing
with his management, but they hate the fact that they have to run a search,
select records, then choose a report. They want to be able to just run the
report from the report console and be prompted for the variables.

I know it's possible with the BIRT tool, but we're just not there yet.

 Any help would be appreciated.
