During the beta I used the one for Window. In less than an hour I had a full functioning ITSM/RKM/and whatever else was included in the stack installer. Like any new product/feature I imagine people are going to run into some issues but BMC hit a home run with this one. In general ARS 7.6.03 is awesome. One note... Now that ARS doesn't have the 2gb process memory limit (Windows anyway) it is a hungry little monster. Unless there is some way of limiting the process memory; the days where you could run a single little VM on your laptop are gone. At first we had an issue where Remedy was taking all of the memory and smothering SQL. SQL would grind to a halt and wouldn't have enough resources to allow the Remedy start up to finish. We were able to up the VM memory to 8gb and Remedy could then start. Re: Crystal Report error
Atul, You should first try to run the report from the designer itself. As Shafqat mentioned, there should be a verify database and a refresh/update database option. The refresh/update option used to be in the older versions of Crystal Report (not sure if this is still there). If you are able to pull out the report, that would mean that your report's connectivity to the backend is fine. And that the issue is somewhere between the MT and Crystal Report engine. HTH. Re: mid-tier doesn't see crystal XI
AR System 7.6.03 (tentatively scheduled to release in late Summer 2010) is expected to have the ability to display basic list-based and graphical reports on the web client without the need to integrate Crystal / BOXI. We have introduced a new Reporting Engine which delivers this capability. The embedded engine is designed to replace the legacy text-based reporting engine currently part of AR System 7.5.00 and earlier. In addition to this, an user will also be able to generate ad-hoc reports subject to permission constraints. Thanks, Prijit Debnath Product Manager, Remedy A R System BMC Software, Inc. I'm still using it in production!! For my dev server I used 7.0.01.008. I have been pointing my 7.5.00.005 pre-production mid-tiers at that last one for testing... it works just fine since all the 7.0.01 mid-tier is doing is serving up the crystal report. I have not tried to update the CRXI mid-tiers to 7.5, and gave up on later patches of 7.1 as the installers remained bug-ridden - trying to upgrade the mid-tier from 7.0.01 to 7.1 ignored and wiped out the report viewer. CRXI is such a pain to install and license that once you get one running, AND a working mid-tier, I try to leave it alone. I'd love to tell you that the BMC installers have improved in 7.5/7.6, but they have not. This week's poster child for worthless installers is BMC Analytics 7.6.01, which skips the entire dialog box set for specifying your db connection - much as the mid-tier installer fails to detect CRXI/BOXI and prompt to install the Crystal viewer. All I can recommend is that you try every patch level of mid-tier that you can find until one works correctly; most of them are flawed. Re: Installing RKM 7.5
Hi, For RKM 7.5, the minimum version of Tomcat required is 5.5.x. The Compatibility Matrix is available herehttp://media.cms.bmc.com/documents/RKM_7_5_0_Compatibility_Matrix_24-03-091.pdf. Also, for ARS, the minimum version of tomcat required is 5.5.28. The Comp Matrix is available herehttp://media.cms.bmc.com/documents/AR+System+7+5+00+Compatibility+Matrix+v1.0_31.pdf. Traditionally, AR System supports the listed version of vendor products or higher, so Tomcat 6 should work. I use jdk/jre 1.6 and Tomcat 6.0. The installation succeeds, but the post_installation fails, when trying to connect to Oracle. I always receive an error 0RA-01017 (invalid user/password), though I am quite sure my password is correct. I tried the jdbc connection strings like : host:port:sid and also tried the full description coming from tnsnames.ora (description=(addresslist=...). I also tried to change the ojdbc*.jar file to more recent version in the lib directory of RKM, and in the lib directory of tomcat, I still get ORA-01017. Any tip ? Thanks a lot. Re: Problem installing ARS7.5 patch3 ,Oracle 10g , Vista
Hi folks, I just want to highlight the fact that not supported doesn't mean it will not work. I will quote A R system's Compatibility Matrix here which clearly states - Quote Supported Configurations are those where the configuration is expected to work properly based on design, testing or general understanding of the interaction between products. For supported configurations, BMC Customer Support will work with customers on an issue involving the configuration until either the issue is resolved or a defect / enhancement is logged. Configurations not listed may still operate properly with AR System and thus customers may choose to run AR System in a configuration not listed as supported. Such configurations would be considered as unconfirmed. Unquote Hope this helps. Prijit Debnath Product Manager, Remedy A R System BMC Software, Inc. I have another XP laptop with dual v5 and v6.3 installations on top of Oracle 9i, but as V7.5 isnt compatible with 10i or XP am using my newer Vista laptop. I opened a thread at BMC communities, had someone from BMC assist me for a while and then, when all his suggestions failed, just seemed to lose interest and never bothered responding further *smile, roll-eyes* Here is the thread... http://communities.bmc.com/communities/thread/43194?tstart=0 I been through everything I can think of - from checking oracle setup/tablespaces/aradmin user, listeners,etc..and still no go. Hopefully, someone out there has been successfull using the same OS/DB/ARS setup and can point me in the right direction!
