Re: Email Engine Install on Separate Server

2013-11-15 Thread Dhananjay Deshpande
You can setup a separate server to run the Email Engine service, there is a
knowledge article to change the registry to make the email engine run without
AR Server and then point email engine to your ARS.

Hi All,
Working on installing ARS 7.6.04 on Linux using Silent Installer.
We have provisioned new servers/VMs for ARS, EE MidTier respectively.
Finished installing ARS .7.6.04 on ARS Server, now looking into MidTier and
Email Engine install.

Is it possible to install just Email Engine on a separate server/ Linux VM or
do I need to have ARS installed as well?

Thank you,
Raj

Check armonitor.log, do you see arserver or any other process is dying?

What is the Cache-Mode set to ? Set it to 0 if not already set for Production
box.

I hope that you are not using the same box for 7604 which you have used for
6.3, as it takes more memory and CPU, so check you are not running out of
memory.

Also for running ARServer being slow, enable sql/api logging and analyze them
via log analyzer to see if there are any long running api's going on?

Other possibility , also check at the db level, if your DBA is seeing some type
of locks?

You can define the log size limit in Server Information page or by adding it in

Re: Migration to Version 8

Thanks for the replies guys..

It certainly helped..so I assume a scratch implementation of version 8 should
be less efforts than taking the 6.4-7.6.04-8.0 path.

Pre 7.x upgrade to 8.0:

You need to identify your customization
Upgrade your pre-7.x to 7.6.04 ( ARServer component Only)
Run BPCU tool ( read BMCs Upgrade_to_preserve_customization.pdf for more
details on BPCU) , make sure BPCU had overlaid your objects, also see if there
are any non-permitted objects which cant be migrated to overlay, depending on
BPCU difference report , you can run rest of the component upgrade (like
approval/assignment,itsm,cmdb etc) only upgrade to 7604 done successfully then
you can perform an upgrade to 8.0 (base release ) and then apply 8.0 service
pack (keep in mind 8.0 service packs are not cumulative, you have to perform
base release install first)
NOTE: Taking db backup at every stage is recommended.

Hi All,

In ITSM 7.6.04, in the Incident I can select Functions Email System and send
out a free test email. After send a record of the email is displayed in Work
Info. If I send an email to the AR Server, it ends up in the AR System Email
Messages and stops there. Out of the box can it be pushed to the Work Info of
the referenced incident? Incident would be in the subject line.

In 6.3 I had to build this email functionality to email from the incident and
receive replies back to the incident. The push was easly enough but including
the attachments was pretty complex. Pleasantly surprised to see that out going
is built into the OOB ITSM and was hoping the incoming had also been done. If
it is there, how do I turn it on. If it is not there has anyone done this with
ITSM and if so how. Any white papers out there for this?
