Joel -

I appreciate that you are using all available avenues to pursue this problem.
Has this problem been escalated within BMC?

Thanks,

Subject: PERFORM-ACTION-ADD-ATTACHMENT fails

I have an ongoing case for this at BMC, but maybe the ARSlist can shed some
light...

Using a development ARS 8.1.1 server on Windows Server with an MS/SQL back-end.
Custom application, simple workflow: run a process to create a PDF file and
then attach it to a record in an ARS form.

I execute a Run Process to create a PDF file D:\$PerNumb$.pdf where the
$PerNumb$ is correctly taken from the current record.
The file is definitely created correctly.

I then attempt to add that file into an Attachment Pool in a filter Run-Process
action with this command:
PERFORM-ACTION-ADD-ATTACHMENT 617001300 D:\$PerNumb$.pdf
The field ID is for the Attachment Pool
That failed, too.

I then tried several iterations of filters with and without the Tick-Bang (`!),
but no luck.

I submitted a ticket to BMC when the 'Run Process' failed and they suggested
that I use a Set-Field action instead.
I tried the Set-Field in an Active Link that executed After-Modify - to ensure
that the file was created in a filter before attempting the attachment.
Using an integer field to accept the Exit Code, I set the field to $PROCESS$
PERFORM-ACTION-ADD-ATTACHMENT 617001300 D:\$PerNumb$.pdf

Same error in ALL cases:
File pointer is NULL or invalid file pointer. (ARERR 295)

Have I missed something basic? Has anyone gotten around this?
Thanks in advance,
Joel

ARS 8,.1 Crystal Server 2011

2013-06-14 Thread Hamilton, Scott
Upgrading Server to ARS 8.1 and I was advised that I need to upgrade from
Crystal Reports Server XI to Crystal Server 2011. When contacting SAP, they
indicated that some special type of Crystal Server 2011 is required, but there
is no such documentation in the Product Compatibility Supported Configurations.
I want to confirm that I simply need a named five-pack license for Crystal
Server 2011.

Thanks,

ARServer 7.1, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Cyrstal Enterprise 11

Does anyone know if there is a version of Crystal Enterprise 11 that is both
compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 and ARServer 7.1?

Thanks,

Re: Print Results in 18 copies

2011-08-25 Thread Hamilton, Scott
Actually, understanding this problem a bit more. 18 copies occur if the
report is greater than 1 page in length for any user using the user tool.
However, if the report is only one page in length, you get only one copy.

But these are good suggestions, but it would appear to be related with the
Remedy User Tool/Crystal interface using Windows 7 as Tommy had indicated. Any
ideas for workarounds other than to back off to XP or use only the web?

I cannot duplicate the problem for other versions of Windows.

Thanks,

Scott

** What about deleting the entry from the preference server? I didn't see any
settings there for printing, but since another login works fine from her
machine, that may be the only difference. Also try deleting her local cache of
forms and workflow.

Print Results in 18 copies

2011-08-24 Thread Hamilton, Scott
For some unexplained reason, for a single user, she is now getting 18 copies of
a printed Crystal Report directly to the printer when she clicks on a Print
button in 7.1 using the User Tool. The same action for other users gives only
1 copy. I get the same behavior using her login on my computer. The web is
unaffected by this problem. Is there somewhere in one of the system forms that
the number of copies might be set for this action by a particular user?

Thanks in advance...

Nothing in the ar.ini file equals 18. I didn't expect since using a different
login worked fine. Tommy, any more information about the defect that is
claimed or a workaround?

Thanks,

Scott

Try to print the same report twice. I could not duplicate the issue because I
just printed one time and saw only 1 copy print. Then I was finally told by the
end-user that the first print always worked correctly.

Re: Crystal Reports on the Web

2007-08-28 Thread Hamilton, Scott
I was informed by our front-line support vendor, Compucomm, that all we
would need was a single license of Crystal Reports 11 Professional or
Developer. Each apparently has the web engine required to display
reports over the web.

Subject: Crystal Reports on the Web

**

I have been tasked with researching BMC Remedy Crystal Reports and
displaying them on the web. I have been checking out both Business
Objects Website and the compatibility matrix on BMC Remedy's web site.
From this information it appears that there are three different products
supported by BMC Remedy ITSM 7.0. Of these three only one is clearly
supported for web display of the reports.

1. Crystal Server - This appears to be supported for Remedy 7.0, but not
for the display of reports from the application. What integration is
there between Crystal Server and BMC Remedy?

2. Crystal Enterprise 10 - This appears to be the only product clearly
supported for displaying reports on the web.

3. Business Objects XI - This appears to be the replacement/upgrade for
Crystal Enterprise 10. Is this product also capable of displaying
Crystal Report files on the web.

Is there one product better/easier than the another?

Where is the best place to start?

If you would like to take this offline feel free to contact me at

Thanks
