Re: Remedy 7 Upgrade Project Plan (with Milestones)

2009-01-14 Thread Kaïs Albassir
How big is their implementation (number of users, Incident/month, item
in the CMDB,... other key figures)?

How many integrations do they have? With which applications?
Load balancers?
What version do they come from?
Is it an ARS upgrade, or also an ITSM upgrade?
If ITSM upgrade, is their current version vanilla or customized?
What interface are they using (User Tool, Web, some mobile stuff...)
Also a DB upgrade? Hardware upgrade?
Mind compatibility issues.
Don't forget user training and resistance to change.

Well, that's it for a start. Hope this helps.

If you're willing please share your project plans (with key

This feature is on our roadmap for 2009.
Comparison of .def file is planned for end Q1 2009, and documentation

Hi Listers,
I was wondering what you all have used to document modifications. I'm

Unfortunately, only some of the modifications were documented codewise.

They currently have some of the modifications documented in Excel
listing the request and the code modified/added. In the past I
preferred using some ARS forms to document the forms and workflow
added/modified/disabled for each mod.

Have you used anything different with success?

ability to tell you all the code that impacts a field (uses it in Run

Re: Admin Tool Sync Search Database

2008-12-17 Thread Kaïs Albassir

Hi Joe,

Our tool could help you here.
With ARSmarts, you can navigate your ARSystem objects, check cross-ref,
foreign workflow,...

You can also search for a specific string (like 'Priority' = "High").
Check www.arsmarts.com.
You can register for our Beta Program, this will give you the
opportunity to use ARSmarts for a while, for free.

Functionalities foreseen for Q1/Q2 2009:
- compare .def files
- generate documentation
- export .def (to avoid the ARSystem timeout when you try to export
ITSM7 for example)

I have long given up on that functionality especially with the new

fail, that I now prefer writing simple SQL's to query for most related
objects which works for me..

Sometimes I feel like documenting every SQL that I use for different
things and then integrating them all into an application that
would generate such information for me..

Test the new ARSmarts.......

2008-11-19 Thread Kaïs Albassir

Dear list,

We would like to bring a new AR System companion product to your
attention: its name is ARSmarts (www.arsmarts.com).

You develop AR System applications….
You wonder what objects push data to this field.
You would like to know in what table field that other field is used.
What Filters fire on Modify if Status = WIP and Assigned to = $NULL$?

You manage large AR System applications (such as ITSM7)….
You want to clearly understand the consequences of turning this option On.
Why is there an email being sent only if the Priority is High?

Get immediate answer to these questions with ARSmarts, and much, much
more

We think that ARSmarts can be useful to the AR System community. It
improves productivity, improves quality, and eliminates frustrating
tasks. Furthermore, as ARSmarts works off-line (from a .def file), it is
absolutely safe.

Our alpha program is currently running, and we are looking for testers.
You can register at http://www.arsmarts.com/register.htm If you think
that developers, support team members, ... at your company could be
interested, please don't hesitate to forward them this email.

Don't hesitate to contact us should you require more information.

Best regards.
