Migration Problems

2008-08-18 Thread Louis van der Walt
Hi List,

We are busy with a migration from a Sun 6000 environment with Solaris
5.8 to a SUN K25 with Solaris 5.10.

The Database Oracle 9i runs on a separate server and was successfully
migrated to the new K25 environment.

Our current version of Remedy is 6.03 patch 13.

We copied all the Remedy directories and files to the new server. The
Remedy application starts up without errors but the arfork process takes
up to 20 min to start up on the SUN K25 server.

Due to response issues and the server hanging on the SUN K25 we had to
switch back to the Sun 6000.

Access to the server is fast at times but the server seems to lose
communication with the database and hangs.

The server name, Ip Address and network configuration is the same for
both servers and access the Database goes through the same route.

The following message appear in the arrerror.log file of the K25

Sun Aug 17 08:23:43 2008 390620 : SQL database is now available (ARNOTE
592)

Sun Aug 17 08:43:45 2008 Dispatch : Timeout during database query --
consider using more specific search criteria to narrow the results, and
retry the operation (saps3) ARERR - 94

592)

Sun Aug 17 08:47:41 2008 390620 : SQL database is now available (ARNOTE

Any help in resolving the issue or a different approach to do the
migration would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Louis
