Re: Use email address as the User Id

2009-11-11 Thread PC Wai
Thanks all for your replies!

I have the same concern on changing email address too. Since I use Submitter
Lock mode, it is possible to the Submitter field.

By the way, does anyone have any issue on the email notification? Does it
confuse the Email Engine with @ sign?

You could mitigate that by using the email address as an "Authentication

One drawback is if the user for any reason change the email address.

The best solutioin, in my view, is using an employee number. This
hardly change...

Hi Rick,

The problem also occurs in a real server. Otherwise, I would smash the VM and
see how it goes. ;->

We had a problem with arplugin when processing SRM data. It finally stopped
when our server's virtual image completely crashed and burned. Since
rebuilding the VM, it hasn't recurred.

If you were on Solaris, I would say "use the libumem memory allocator", but I
don't know of an equivalent for Linux. libumem is nice because it makes it
very easy to track down what corrupts the stack, as it forces a core dump and
exits on a bad operation, from which you can get a stack trace. You
can even step through the operations if you can reproduce the problem, viewing
the data and function calls using mdb (or was it dbx).

Check the referenced log. Chances are something corrupted the stack.
Are you running any custom plug-ins (*.so) with the arplugin server?
If so, you may consider attaching a debugger to them and making sure they are

I am still on the DST patch on production and running fine (Solaris/Oracle)

I tried to move to patch 4 in development, but had issues with just moving the
binaries (which were not complete). The installer worked, however if at times
if we run a Crystal report from the user tool, the arserverd crashes.

I think we will stick for now on the DST server patch.

Folks,

In case you are not aware of this page

http://www.bmc.com/info_center_support/overview/0,,19097_0_68222529,00.html

I am not impressed of this. I have submitted my question a month ago. The reply
from BMC was "At this time we are not aware of the need for any patch."

It is not much time left for testing and rolling out the patch before March. In
fact, we have started inputting the change records for next year.
