Re: Copying AREA LDAP Plugin from one server to another SOLVED

2009-08-31 Thread Robert D Martin
My mistake. I exported the ARDBC LDAP Configuration form our test server
and imported it into the live server. But I just exported the form. I needed
to check Add All Related.

Thank you, Pawan of BMC support for figuring it out!

(And thanks again, Axton, for your input.)

Then restart the plugin server.

Enable the plugin logs and make sure the plugin is loaded properly.

- AREA LDAP for authentication

- ARDBC LDAP to handle reading data from an LDAP store via a Vendor form
- ARDBC CONF to handle the configuration of the pre-built AREA plugin

If you are trying to do the AREA authentication using the pre-built plugins,
you need both the AREA LDAP plugin and the ARDBC CONF plugin.
In addition to this, you will need to move the AREA LDAP Configuration and
Configuration ARDBC forms for the AREA configuration form to work properly.

Re: Employees clocking in and out

2009-08-11 Thread Robert D Martin
Thanks, Kelly,

We use a similar system. The trouble is they come in and turn on their
computer, and it takes a couple minutes for it to warm up before they can log
in. Then at the end of the day they log off, then have to shut down their
computer before they can leave, and they aren’t getting paid for the time that
their computer is starting and stopping. We have been just adding an extra
three minutes onto the time worked, but now we are interested in exploring
other possibilities.

Years ago when I was at University of Oklahoma, I created a form that stored
timestamp of login and logout. Every login created a new record, every logout
found the last record and set the exit time. I then had my student employees
login to Remedy as soon as the came on shift and log out when they went off
shift. Not fancy but it worked.

IF the people you are tracking don't do Remedy as a standard part of there day
you could do an end user form that they put in their name or employee id then
click Clock In or Clock Out and have that do the same idea. Timestamp is
your friend ;)

Question on WWRUG09

Dear List,

Does the WWRUG09 website list someone to contact if we have questions. (I

I've put in a request to attend the big event, but our secretary wants to know

Does anyone know the answer, or know somebody who would?

John,

Thanks for the great suggestion! I'll tell her that there is no refund
then, fall down and break my leg and pocket the money.

She is also asking if all meals are provided. I told her that they always have
been, but she wants to see it in writing. Instead I'll just tell her that they
aren't this time, and then turn in a big week-long dining bill.

If we work together we can come up with lots of ways to beat the system.

Thanks,

I don't know the policy for WWRUG -- but I do know that sometimes questions get
asked - that need answers -- but the actual answer has nothing to do with it.

So -- try this --

Tell the secretary -- the policy is -- no refund -- then the secretary will
move forward with that info.

In the event you fall/break leg/etc

And you don't get a refund -- no surprise.

And if you do -- :)

I find some questions get asked cause when they were building the form -- they
thought they would ask every question ever askable -- but -- really - they are
not needed. (Your case could be different)

Have fun -- and question the process -- it is healthy!!!

-John
