Kevin, What do you mean by 'used the CMDB driver to update all other classes etc' ? When you add an attribute to base element you don't have to update any other classes. For your question, all you need to do is add the index to the base element class either using cmdbdriver or the class manager. You should be able to see this on the BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseElement form when you've finished.
