Integration with emailed attachments

2012-08-28 Thread Logan, Kelly
Greetings Integrator/AIE gurus,

I am looking to update People data from a file attached to an email (as only
option is to email reports).

My assumptions (please feel free to correct):

1. Atrium Integrator cannot update CTM:People entries.

2. AIE does not have an easy method to read from an attachment pool.

3. Three is a magic number.

4. Using AIE processing will be more efficient and robust, and quicker to
set up than writing custom import code.

Requirements:

1. Two columns will need to be transformed (Work Location - Site,
Functional Group - Organization, Department)

2. Customization is to be kept to a minimum (zero, if possible),
particularly on OOB elements.

My proposed process is:

1. Generate report, send as email attachment with a canned Email Engine
submit command in content.

2. Email to an AR mailbox set to process emails - Email engine submits to
custom 'PQ:HR:Import People' form, pushes file to attachment pool.

3. Workflow on form saves the attachment to a secure directory on the
server.

4. AIE job runs, picks up file from server directory, uses
targetsql|select ... functions to look up mapped values in 'PQ:Mapping' form
and 'Site Alias'.

Any experience people have had with this or ideas on other things to try would
be welcome.

I would develop the required code at the custom form.
