I just tried it and it worked for me.  What version Mid-Tier and web browser 
are you using?

I tried both of the following (clearing the Mid-Tier cache and 
closing/re-opening the browser before each try) with no problems:   
   javascript: alert("Hello World");   
   javascript:alert("Hello World");
