Re: Open Ticket from AL

2008-04-11 Thread Brian Goralczyk
You know, it is kinda hokey, but there is a way of doing that. Just delete
your cache files when you close the form before you reopen it. I know your
looking for a simple switch, or setting, but it does work. You can just
create a batch to delete the files and run that.

have the most recent version and was instead using a local cached copy
of the object that was a previous version of the active link.

I hate to say it, but there are times that I really wish, for
development purposes, that I could tell the ARS client (User Tool , or
Mid-Tier) that it should always to get the objects a fresh and NOT use
any local cache. When testing/developing caches are often a blind

Re: Open Ticket from AL

2008-04-09 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
Strange... Since you are modifying an existing record you should have
the Entry ID (Request ID) of the record and can use that as a lookup.

Since you are working on an AL you have closed all occurrances of the
form (so the User Tool will re-load it's cache)

What Window Type are you Opening the form in (Modify or Display)?

Subject: Open Ticket from AL

How can I have a window open in different view on a button press?

I have created an AL that does an open window on the button press, but I
am having problems with the qualification for the window to be opened.

I want it to open the window and pull up the current transaction, but
it will not be the last ID.

I thought it might be the CURRENTWIND keyword, but I cant get it to
work.

Thanks,

Re: Open Ticket from AL

2008-04-09 Thread Mayfield, Andy L.
OK, Maybe I jumped the gun. After testing with admin privileges and
having it work, I went back and tried again with the users ID and it
worked OK. Not sure what happened on my first test. I will continue to
test for a while, but it appears this may have it.

For some reason I never see the forest for the trees.

The button fire an AL that has 4 actions. Actions 1 and 2 do set fields
on the form, action 3 does a Run Process of PERFORM-ACTION-APPLY to save
the request and action 4 is the open window.

The window is in Modify mode at the time of the button press, but using
the $1$ = '1' did not return any results.

So you are doing this on a button press after submit?

If it is on a Modify you can use $1$ = '1'

OK, that didn't work as I expected. I thought it would open the LAST
request modified. It appears to open all modified requests.

Dang! I thought I had it (-:

That's right. I figured out from reading the manual that I could use
$OPERATION = SET since the AL is also modifying the ticket just before I
want it to open the form in the new view. I am about to do some testing
to see if it work ok.

I am still open to suggestions if there's a better way, or if this
method will not work.
