Re: Oracle 9i to 10g upgrade issues?

2007-04-10 Thread Sabyson Fernandes
Melissa,

On ARS 6.0.3, you still need to connect to the Oracle
10 database using the Oracle 9iR2 client. Check your
ar.conf (Unix) or ar.cfg (Windows) for the DB-home
directory and point this to the location of where you
have the Oracle 9i client installed.

Hope this helps.

Saby

Dear Melissa,
I believe you have the mapped the new instances and the
directory names. Check the path as Steve has rightly pointed out. Also check
the tnsnames.ora file for any incorrect connection strings. Hope this helps.

If the client is not properly installed or the Registry is not cleaned
of the old client data the system can not connect properly to the
database. It will think you are running ora 9i.

We are running ARS 6.3 patch 20 and need to upgrade our database to
Oracle 10g from 9i. When you do this, you can't install Oracle on top
of the previous version. Now that we have Oracle upgraded, remedy can't
find the database. Has anyone had issues with this kind of an upgrade?
Apparently Remedy hardcodes Oracle information that we will need to
change. Any ideas?

Thanks!
