Panacea or other development object management tool

2012-07-13 Thread Cecil, Ken
Any thoughts on Panacea Workflow Studio

We are considering purchasing an ARS utility/development tool to help us (first
and foremost) migrate development changes into production and manage dev vs
prod systems.

One thing driving this is that we need to segregate duties. Ideally allow the
QA team to promote development objects to the production AR Servers without
giving them the access to make their own development changes and vice versa for
the developers.

PWS was recommended. I would just like to know if there are other tools any of
you like better or think we should consider. Also, your comments on your
experience with this or any related tool would be appreciated. Any idea if
these tools handle overlays correctly and any speculation on supporting ARS 8.0?

Thanks

Ken.

Subject: Apache 6.0 with Remedy Knowledge Management Application

Hi Everyone -

Has anyone ever upgraded apache 5.5 to apache 6.0 on their Remedy
Management server. I have a windows server that only runs the Remedy
Knowledge Management application. Due to a security risk, we need to
upgrade apache. I cannot find any documentation on if I have to
backup any files or change any exiting files on RKM before upgrading.
I can find plenty on upgrading apache for mid-tier, but nothing on
RKM. I was thinking of just making a backup of the install directory
for RKM and then running the apache installer.

Any helpful hints or suggestions?

Re: Panacea or other development object management tool

2012-07-13 Thread Gangji R
I had used PWS about 1.5 years ago and here are some issues I recall
encountering:
 - There was no way of migrating CMDB changes using the native PTG file - the
PTG file is the Panacea equivalent of the ARS def files. We used to do the
CMDB changes via command line.
- There were issues with the migration of the individual fields on forms (delta
changes on forms). As far as I can recall, the fields were migrated with
different IDs than the source even though the field ids were not used in the
corresponding destination form.

The import of the filters, active links and other ARS object PTGs seemed to
work as expected.

Again, these observations were from a while back and may no longer hold true.
Still, it may be worth looking out for these when you do the evaluation of the
product.

Regards,
Rahim
