Re: {Remedy ARS} Remedy Mid-Tier Patch 8 upgrade issue

2010-05-26 Thread Pruitt, Christopher (Bank of America Account)
We discovered that there is a bug with the installer for Mid-Tier 7.1 patch 8
and ServletExec 5.0 and Java 1.5 patch 15 combination. We were able to roll
back the patch to an earlier version but it took us over 21 hours to recover
our two mid-tier servers and many long hours with 3 different BMC Tech Support
individuals.

Verify if enough memory is available in the server in the first place,
most probably you should because you are just doing an upgrade unless
any unwanted/locked processes consuming huge amounts of RAM.
Do you share midtier box with any other applications?
Also see in the logs if there are any excessive number of midtier
connections to the arserver?

We encountered an issue last night and need some help. We upgraded our Remedy
Mid-Tier  7.1 original release to Patch 8 and now we are getting a
 java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.

We are using the ServletExec 5.0 as our web server.

We increased our Java Heap Memory Size and still we get this error.

We made this change in the StartServletExec.bat file
 F:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_14\bin\java -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -classpath

Has anyone encountered this in the past? The interesting thing is we did this
upgrade on our dev and test servers and had no issues, but once we did it on
our production servers we are encountering this issue.
