Re: Requirements Doc

2015-03-17 Thread Lucero, Michelle
Hi, Tami, et al::

The sample zoo requirements doc also exists in the 8.1.00 online documentation.
Search for this EXACT text inside these quotation marks, “An example BMC
Remedy AR System application”.

Thanks to LJ for originating this topic – as I was trying to find ideas for
some new developers as well.

I’d be interested in any other mini-requirements docs as well.

All,
I'm training up a newbie on Remedy Development, and we have reached the point
where I think he's ready for a 'test'I remember going through my 7.x RAC
class, and they gave us a small 'requirements doc' for a fairly simple, yet
complex enough application that needed to be built...the guys that were in the
class with me all built different applications of course, but they all met the
application...it was a good exercise and helped hone the blade so to speak on
all of our skills...I was wondering if anyone happened to have something like
that laying around that I would be able to use

It doesn't need to be related to any particular industry, etc...just a couple
of pages of requirements for an app that requires a few forms, and some
description of functionality, but of course, not how the functionality needs to
be built

If anyone is willing to send me some stuff, either on or offline, I would
appreciate it.

Re: Requirements Doc

2015-03-13 Thread Theo Fondse (GMail)
Hi LJ,

I had a little hardware trouble with my laptop dying on me, but the
manufacturer has now repaired it under the warranty, hence my late reply.

You’re welcome. I hope it helps.

I never bothered to compare the new online documentation version of this to the
old documentation, but we used Chapter 6 of the 7.6.04 Concepts guide as
requirements input and tested the newbie’s on their documentation skills on
creating a requirements document as well as their development skills.

Testing them on something as unconventional as a wild animal park / zoo tends
to also test their ability to tackle the unfamiliar and the concepts tested
here are not too difficult for anyone that has passed the Admin training.

Best Regards,

Theo

formatted in a specific way with a specific message and want to send during the
setup/completion of the requests.

So the idea would be to create a form where the various teams can add/modify
their canned messages and then have it selectable from a menu on the email

In this example, your junior develop would have to create a form, menu, active

the difficulty level.

All,
I'm training up a newbie on Remedy Development, and we have reached the point
where I think he's ready for a 'test'I remember going through my 7.x RAC
class, and they gave us a small 'requirements doc' for a fairly simple, yet
complex enough application that needed to be built...the guys that were in the
class with me all built different applications of course, but they all met the
application...it was a good exercise and helped hone the blade so to speak on
all of our skills...I was wondering if anyone happened to have something like
that laying around that I would be able to use

It doesn't need to be related to any particular industry, etc...just a couple
of pages of requirements for an app that requires a few forms, and some
description of functionality, but of course, not how the functionality needs to
be built

If anyone is willing to send me some stuff, either on or offline, I would
appreciate it.

Yea...but even that would require some sort of 'figuring out' what the
requirements are...I'm looking for a simple defined requirement that he can
translate into a functional application that meets those requirements :)

Re: Requirements Doc

2015-03-06 Thread LJ LongWing
Yea, what I'm looking for is a doc that says 'I need an application built,
I want to store these 5 attributes, and this is what I want to store in
them, I want to be able to search on these 2 fields, where what I'm
searching on could be anywhere in the field, blah blah blah

I'm not looking for an enhancement requirements doc to an existing
applicationjust a simple two or three page requirements doc for a
'sample' application that I don't need to create myselfI certainly
could create such a document...but I'm just trying to see if anyone has one
laying around from a class they took, or something similar.

One of the tests I took, was to build a record data base. Yes I said record.

I remember it had to have the speed (33.3/78/45), all the info on the album,
the ability to import from the record DB that was on line). Also be usable with
the old palm pilot interface.

LJ,

I'm not sure if this is something you're looking for, but I currently have
an enhancement request from one of my users to modify the email function
(located under function on left side navigation panel) in tickets to allow
for canned messages. Many teams that are fulfilling requests have
messages to send formatted in a specific way with a specific message and
want to send during the setup/completion of the requests.

So the idea would be to create a form where the various teams can
add/modify their canned messages and then have it selectable from a menu

In this example, your junior develop would have to create a form, menu,
active links and buttons. I think I recall you have a custom environment
