As jail breaking iPhones & iPads is currently legal (at least in the US), is
there a version of flash available for jail broken devices? If so, once a
device is jail broken, is it possible to update that device without loosing
anything, when a new version of an iOS is available? I’ve read a few blogs one

Another option if the customer has a Citrix environment is to use the Citrix
Receiver. There is one for iPhone/iPad and Android. With Citrix you are
then using a supported browser on a server that hopefully has Flash
installed. You can use the WUT for that matter (while supplies last).

So most of us who use these phones know that Apple iPhones (maybe iPads too?)
do not support Flash, and most of the new ITSM consoles use Flash. So its
obvious that currently, iPhones (and perhaps iPads) are not compatible with
these applications.. Do the wireless views use Flash?

Has anyone gone down the route of finding a workaround? Running remote
desktop on iPads may be a workaround if iPads do not support flash, but that
would not quite be an option on iPhones..

As jail breaking iPhones & iPads is currently legal (at least in the US), is
there a version of flash available for jail broken devices? If so, once a
device is jail broken, is it possible to update that device without loosing
anything, when a new version of an iOS is available? I’ve read a few blogs one
of which said you may loose about 500 MB of disk space on a phone if you jail
break it and then update to a new version of an iOS..

This post is for my information only and does not involve work that I am
currently doing. My current customer does not have this as a requirement, but I
figured I may be faced with this at some point somewhere..

Re: Slightly OT: Mid-Tier and Apple iPhone...

2011-03-09 Thread Joe Martin D'Souza

Thanks for that information. I am just getting into the whole iOS thing more as
a hobby, so am still learning about the OS and its features.. This is useful
information. I wasn’t aware of the security side of things when I jail broke my
iPhone a couple of weeks ago. I did it cause I thought it was fun and wanted to
see what I could do with my phone after jail breaking it. I thought it may open
options that were otherwise not available (this flash thing being one of them).
And you are right about there not being too many advantages to it apart from
some free apps or cheaper apps.. The biggest advantage being you can buy some
apps which have a one time fee which is almost nothing at all for eg. internet
tethering.

In response to Jason Miller, yes I think the Citrix options for iPhones and
iPads use terminal services.. So it does not require flash to be installed or
running on the device..

Matt,

Does the Xoom ship with any Flash? I have access the Atrium Console from my
Droid X with Flash 10.1. The problem I found was I had no way of right
clicking to expand/collapse relationships.

I don't think the Flash will be the problem with the Xoom as much as some of
the native Mid-Tier functionality. At least with MT 7.5 p4 drop down menus
are king of hit and miss as well as double tap to drill down into a table
zooms in and out. Panel and Application List fields also don't appear to
play well with the Android browser.

For giggles I just tried Firefox (recently re-branded from Fennec) and the
drop down menus worked better but Panels and Application Lists still had an
issue.

We'll be deploying a 7.6.04 MT soon. I'll try again with that setup.

anything, when a new version of an iOS is available? I’ve read a few blogs one
of which said you may loose about 500 MB of disk space on a phone if you jail
break it and then update to a new version of an iOS..

This post is for my information only and does not involve work that I am
currently doing. My current customer does not have this as a requirement, but I
figured I may be faced with this at some point somewhere..

  Joe
