You can create a job and transformation from client , test it and once 
everything looks okay..just update the path according to the server path and 
schedule from AI console.

and then modify those so that it would run on Linux sever on a regular basis.

You can create a script which would pull the files from remote/ftp location 
into your local drive where the Spoon is installed. Then call the script within 
the job as the first step before processing the file.

I usually run the spoon from linux server to load data from CSV. I need to 
check if we have option in client to do that
