Yes I agree.. It would be too complicated to write even a simple script to
create those def files (xml defs or otherwise) from just your ARX files. The
ARX files contains only form names and data as Matt said. It has no information
about the permissions that ought to be on every field, or the workflow that
ought to execute – nothing. Its just data.
If they are not willing to give you a def file as its too time consuming to
pick it out, you could request them to export the table structures excluding
the data, and send you the version and patch of the ARS they are on, and you
can work yourself up from there.. You could write a script for them, that:
1) Exports only the table structures
2) Exports only the meta data
3) Exports Group data to take care of permission groups OTB and others that
were created
4) Exports User form data to take care of importing at least 1 admin user
5) Exports some main configuration data that the AR System depends on.
Exporting this once you have a ready script should take them no more than 15 or
20 minutes
You would then need to clean up whatever is not required, check for the meta
data integrity (nextID’s in the arschema will be inconsistent for e.g)..
You are looking at about a week of work – at least 2 days for the main work and
the rest of the week to check for consistencies...

Hi.
ARX file is only data.
You'll have to have DEF (or XML) files from your ex-colleagues to be able to
have the structure (form with fields) to import it into.

Hello World
A little bit of background. Our company is de-merging from our parent company
and we need to now create our own remedy server. We have been given all the
data in the form of an ARX file, but no def files for forms or active links or
anything.
So my question is;
is there any way to tell Remedy 7.6 SP2 to auto create a form with all the
fields in an ARX file; or do I have to create every form and field manually?
Thanks for any help
