The atmospheric science research group at LuleƄ University of Technology has an
open PhD position at the Campus in Kiruna, Sweden.

The project consists of two, closely related parts. In-situ measurements on
cirrus clouds which will provide a database of various microphysical properties
of cirrus particles, providing optical properties which are relevant for lidar
observations. The second part will focus on measurements with a ground-based
lidar, located at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Kiruna.
Parameters from the database of microphysical properties will be utilised to
analyse lidar observations. The resulting cirrus properties in turn will be
compared with data products from the ATLID instrument on the EarthCARE
satellite, the goal being validation of ATLID data products.
