[AsburyPark] Habitat at the Stephen Crane House

2005-03-29 Thread asburycheech

Hi Members of the group,

Since First Saturday Night will soon be here, it looks
like another exciting weekend ahead for activities in Asbury Park
Just wanted to remind those who are interested in Habitat for
Humanity and Coastal Habitat that Asbury's own Lynda Ziemba will be
at the Stephen Crane House (508 4th Ave.) Saturday evening April 2
at 6:30 PM to tell us about her recent work for Habitat in Ghana.
She will share some very moving pictures with us also. Coastal
Habitat would very much like to become more visible and involved in
Asbury Park. There is also a group within Habitat called Women
Build, which provides women with an opportunity to plan and build
houses. There is no admission charge, but all donations will go
directly to Coastal Habitat. Refreshments will be served. If
you'd like to attend, please e-mail me and I'll reserve a place for
you. Or you can call 732-775-5682. We can seat about 40. Thanks!

 Frank D'Alessandro

2005-03-29 Thread charlie leonard

if anyone attends that planning board meeeting
tonight, in regards to the boadwalk pavillions. let
me know what happened. - i dont think the boardwalk
will be operating in the full sence of the wrold this
summer. i see asbury partners rental signs for the
2005 summer season up, but they were also up last
summer for 04. there may be a few places open, but
depending on what they are will tell how popular they
become. how the hell can they have a rental sign on
the howard johnsons building pavillion? isnt the
structure up top un safe and the ground level units
are caving in.

Re: [AsburyPark] Re: ANYBODYS: Eminent Domain -- talk to a lawyer

2005-03-29 Thread cathryn.be

I'm curious about this also.

it makes quite a statement however the way the place looks when you
drive by with all the 'eminent domain abuse' signs on it.

but you know there was a place in NYC in Coney Island ... it was a
landmark (I forget what) and during the giuliani days it was just
knocked down before the owner could get there with no notice.

so... they should be careful.

is 'anybody's' a renter or an owner and is the property doomed?

good luck.

Cathryn.

2005-03-29 Thread Tyler, Mark
Title: RE: [AsburyPark] Three stooges must go.BRUNO, SANDERS, AND JOHN

What does a high school diploma have to do with intelligence? Probably somewhat less. At least someone who chooses higher education is investigating the world, challenging their abilities, trying to improve their skills and possibly gaining relevant knowledge. Doesn't it say something about a person that never chooses to take such a challenge?

[AsburyPark] Re: Pavilions in Fishmanland

2005-03-29 Thread Skip Bernstein

How the hell can they have a rental sign on the Howard Johnson's
building pavilion? Isn't the structure up top un safe and the
ground level units are caving in.

Welcome to Fishmanland, courtesy of current council The Fishman has
immunity from zoning, building, safety and historic preservation
standards and regulations; it's just one more of the amenities that
find their way into your pocket when you play Jersey's favorite game
pay to play.

As for The Partners ever getting the boardwalk operating in a normal
or familiar form; don't hold your breath.

[AsburyPark] Re: Three stooges must go.....BRUNO, SANDERS, AND JOHN........

2005-03-29 Thread jerseyjohn99

true, in a way. Bill Gates failed out of college, but I don't think
anyone of these guys would be confused with Bill Gates.

How can any person with clear conscience vote for someone to guide a
$1.2 billion waterfront plan who doesn't have a basic understanding
of Macroeconomics? To negotiate tax abatements with no foundation in
Public Policy? To make decisions on a $25 million budget without a
basic understanding of Accounting? Can you trust a decision maker if
he doesn't have the training to process understand complex
concepts? All of these skills as well as group project experience
can be assumed with a Bachelors degree.

I'd be afraid to take advice from an accountant who never took a
college course, why shouldn't I be afraid of entrusting my tax money
with someone who hasn't demonstrated they can handle it?

no, it auctally says nothing about a person at all. a
person can be smart and challenge their thinking
abilities in many other ways. so what your saying
isnt accurate and im sure others will agree.

2005-03-29 Thread muffolettom

It says nothing at all does it? Well I can guess your educational
resume. In any event the subject is fairly well studied. I read
today that in systems where elected officials are subject to the rule
of law (like the U.S.) there is a correlation between lack of education
and corruption. Don't you think that says something - when studies
show the less educated your representative the more likelly they are to
be corrupt? But I guess your the kind of guy that gets medical care
from someone who doesn't have a medical degree - since it means nothing.

[AsburyPark] The Fishman’s curriculum vitae or Why Fishman, Why Now?

2005-03-29 Thread Skip Bernstein

The Fishman's are educated; Larry has an advanced degree in window
replacement, is a master at buying tax arrears, all of which prepared
him for his thesis in commissioning Weldon to sell council on a deal
that brings Asbury zilch.

His brothers Moe and Curly ate equally learned in the fine arts of
getting something (in this case everything) for nothing.

Presented with a cast of characters this impressive, could council
have done anything less than give away the store lock, stock and
barrel?
