[AsburyPark] This Group's Home Site Screwed Up?

2007-06-14 Thread Mario

Last two days, if I check postings directly at this group's home page,
they're all screwed up.

Posted by doesn't always match the message and sender, and a few other
weird twists like cut off posts.

My own posts come through ok through AOL, but don't jive with what I see
at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AsburyPark/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AsburyPark/

Anyone else spot this?

30 years ago, it was much easier.

Riuniti (around $3.00)
Gas for car(.54)
Bottle of Miller (.85)
Slice of Pizza (.85)
Blanket (sometimes)

Today:
Hide the liquor from the kids before you leave
Buy them and their friends food to drink the liquor you hid or they
bring over ($30-40)
Plan
Clothes to wear ($$$)
Dinner ($50-$200)
Hotel ($150+) for hotel OR to make the kids disappear for a night
Car payment ($700)
Clean car ($10)
Coffee to stay awake ($3-$12)
And that's if you're not going anywhere, like AC or a short weekend.
AND you're married/unioned(?)

Couldn't imagine the pain of being single.

[AsburyPark] Should We Make Cuts to the Proposed 2007 Municipal Budget?

Dear Friends of Asbury Park:

Please visit www.keadyreport.blogspot.com
http://www.keadyreport.blogspot.com/ and give your input on the following
question:

Should We Make Cuts to the Proposed 2007 Municipal Budget?

For your convenience, I have included information about the budget and
information about a special budget review meeting being held tomorrow.

Your comments and questions help me to make the most informed decisions for
our community. I look forward to hearing from you.

...Are we willing to pay 5% more in taxes to cover the costs of what
is being proposed by our City Departments?

...If we are not willing to pay 5% more, is there a way to generate
revenue from other sources to cover the increase?
Me: Yes, take a look at how some residential and commercial
properties are assessed.
Me: Yes, take a good hard look at tax-exempt properties and challenge
the questionable one(s).
Me: Yes, Make sure inspections are done asap to move tenants into the
redevelopment zone and elsewhere in the city.

5% means only $180 per year for a home assessed at $150,000.

Try a revalue of properties and reasses:

1) You have around 3900 properties in the systems as per M County
2) You have a majority of those properties assessed at less then
$150,000 (around 3250 proeprties).
3) You have ONLY 629 +/- assesed OVER $150,000
4) Out of those, only 115 are assessed OVER $500,000, many of which
are tax exempt

THEN:
1) A homeowner assessed at 158,800 pays $6864 in taxes (4.34%)
2) A new condo owner on the Ocean pays (based on $655,000 sale price)
pays roughly 1.3% on their purchase. ($8400)
3) Question: Would the 5% INCREASE impact the redevelopment zone? Or
does that get abated.
4) When does AP get revalued?

If you need more questions

18 men arrested for soliciting sex in Asbury Park
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 06/14/07
BY MICHELLE SAHN

 Post Comment
ASBURY PARK — Some 18 men, ranging in age from 21- to 77-years-old,
were arrested after approaching an undercover city police officer
and offering her money for sexual favors Wednesday afternoon, police
said.

The undercover detail done near the beachfront was part of the
department's ongoing effort to combat prostitution throughout the
city, police said.

This operation is just another example of how the police department
is working hard to address all of the issues that are effecting
peoples' quality of life in the city,'' said Police Chief Mark
Kinmon.

Capt. David Kelso said the female officer was on foot, while members
of the detective bureau and street crimes unit handled surveillance
Wednesday afternoon.

The men approached the plain-clothes officer on foot and in
vehicles, he said.

Of the 18 men accused of offering the officer money for sexual
services, one-third - six --were from out of town, authorities said.

Charged with soliciting for prostitution were: Arius Lahens, 37, of
Heck Avenue, Neptune; Jerome Meiselman, 77, of Genesse Avenue,
Oceanport; Brian Smith, 36, of Sea Drift Avenue, Highlands; Michael
Madden, 58, of New Bedford Road, Spring Lake; Angel Zuniga, 21, of
Tenth Avenue, Belmar; Andrew Menyhart, 48, Lafayette Drive, Brick;
and city residents Juan Santiago-Reano, 25, Jenaro Gomez, 28, and
Rogelio Zarate-Martinez, 41, all of Second Avenue; Alberto Diaz-
Rosas, 31, of Sixth Avenue; Jesus Martinez-Serrano, 29, of Emory
Street; Jose Tatis-Pena, 46, and Percio Gomez, 44, both of Ocean
Avenue; Arturo Massa, 38, of Fourth Avenue; Anthony Williams, 50, of
Seventh Avenue; and Ezequiel Anaya-Flores, 33, Tysonne
Broadie, 30, and Abel Contreras, 35, all of Eighth Avenue.

Menyhart was also charged with loitering to obtain or distribute a
controlled dangerous substance.

A 19th man, Leonard Cardinal, 65, of Potter Avenue, of Manasquan,
was charged with loitering for the purpose of engaging in
prostitution.

All of the charges are disorderly persons offenses heard in
municipal court.

Police search for man who fired gun in Asbury Park this morning
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 06/14/07
BY MICHELLE SAHN

 Post Comment
ASBURY PARK — Police said they are searching for a 23-year-old city
man who they believe fired a gun on a city street early this morning.

Complaints have been signed against Levi R. Kyles, of the 600 block
of Second Avenue in the city, charging him with two counts each of
aggravated assault, possession for unlawful purposes and unlawful
possession of a weapon.

Around 12:45 a.m. this morning, police responded to a report of
shots fired on the 1400 block of Summerfield Avenue, said Capt.
David Kelso.

No one was injured.

After an investigation, Kyles was identified as the suspect and
complaints were signed, said Kelso.

Police are searching for Kyles and said he should be considered
armed and dangerous. Anyone who comes into contact with him should
call police, said Kelso.

Anyone with information about the case or Kyles' whereabouts is
asked to call Detective Connie Breech at (732) 502-5777 or the
department's or tip line at 1-800-799-8280.

ASBURY PARK — Some 18 men, ranging in age from 21- to 77-years-old, were
arrested after approaching an undercover city police officer and offering her
money for sexual favors Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The undercover detail done near the beachfront was part of the department's
ongoing effort to combat prostitution throughout the city, police said.

This operation is just another example of how the police department is
working hard to address all of the issues that are effecting peoples' quality
of
life in the city,'' said Police Chief Mark Kinmon.

Capt. David Kelso said the female officer was on foot, while members of the
detective bureau and street crimes unit handled surveillance Wednesday
afternoon.

The men approached the plain-clothes officer on foot and in vehicles, he
said.

Of the 18 men accused of offering the officer money for sexual services,
one-third - six --were from out of town, authorities said.

Charged with soliciting for prostitution were: Arius Lahens, 37, of Heck
Avenue, Neptune; Jerome Meiselman, 77, of Genesse Avenue, Oceanport; Brian
Smith, 36, of Sea Drift Avenue, Highlands; Michael Madden, 58, of New Bedford
Road, Spring Lake; Angel Zuniga, 21, of Tenth Avenue, Belmar; Andrew Menyhart,
48, Lafayette Drive, Brick; and city residents Juan Santiago-Reano, 25, Jenaro
Gomez, 28, and Rogelio Zarate-Martinez, 41, all of Second Avenue; Alberto
Diaz-Rosas, 31, of Sixth Avenue; Jesus Martinez-Serrano,  29, of Emory Street;
Jose Tatis-Pena, 46, and Percio Gomez, 44, both of Ocean Avenue; Arturo Massa,
38, of Fourth Avenue; Anthony Williams, 50, of Seventh Avenue; and Ezequiel
Anaya-Flores, 33, Tysonne
Broadie, 30, and Abel Contreras, 35, all of Eighth Avenue.

Menyhart was also charged with loitering to obtain or distribute a
controlled dangerous substance.

A 19th man, Leonard Cardinal, 65, of Potter Avenue, of Manasquan, was
charged with loitering for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

All of the charges are disorderly persons offenses heard in municipal court.

Heard this was coming down. My hat is tipped to the 77-year old. Never
give up.

If the Judge inquired of the immigration status of each defendant, and
notifed Homeland Security of anyone who is illegally here, I'm thinking
we would be rid of a great many of those in that article who were
arrested.

With so many jobs opened up, the poor blacks on the West Side would
be able to demand a living wage to do the work.

I'd pay more for a meal, but I'm willing to make the investment.
