[AsburyPark] Re: 1st Saturday's cold stroll

2008-12-08 Thread dapawprint
Maureen and I were at Rafferty's, I received a phone call at 9:37PM
that I can use as a timestamp. When we got to Rafferty's, Quinn had
people dancing on Cookman in the snow. Shortly after receiving the
phone call, a woman came in absolutely drenched with melted snow as she
had been dancing to Quinn so. I believe that Quinn played until
10PM.

We took an early evening stroll around Cookman. Had drinks at
Raffertys, and dinner at Brick Wall. Brought coffee to the Kevin Quinn
Trio who braved the cold to play some original music, and some covers.

Visited with Tony and Michelle of the Arcade's Under The Sun.

We left as it began to snow. Anybody known how long Quinn played on
after that? Talk about the hardest working musician on the Jersey
 Shore!

[AsburyPark] Cleaning out the in-box....

2008-12-08 Thread oakdorf
From a 2004 press release:

-
...Asbury Partners also continues to support the Asbury Park
community through contributions to key programs as well as
professional development efforts. More than 5,000 full- and part-
time jobs will be created by this project, with a substantial amount
being filled by local residents, Fishman noted.
In addition, Oceanfront Asbury will increase the tax base of Asbury
Park by $40 million per year within 10 years. This will enable
dramatic investment in social services, law enforcement and public
works, which will improve the quality of life for everyone who lives,
works and visits here.
-

so that was 2004. We're coming in to 2009. That means another 5
years. In 5 years the economy just may be back to the happy free
irresponsible spending and lending we had before.

If you're not working for yourself, you just mind up being a
government employee. Not such a bad deal.

Oak,

I thought of you this evening and your suggestions.

I stayed at The Empress this past weekend. There is a charge on my
bill called Occupancy Tax I have no issue paying it, but do you or
anyone else know who collects it?

The room rate was $129 and the fee $6.45. I also paid $9.03 in sales
tax.

Does the City get any of this?

Glenn

Looks like 5%

That would be the state tax.
