[AsburyPark] Cubacan

2011-04-17 Thread fancypaaantz
I went there last night and was really impressed. The place is beautiful, with
a Cuban nightclub feel. They had a live band. The ceviche and Cuban pork was
awesome. The service was pretty good considering they just opened. The staff
seem nervous and a very eager to please. Overall two thumbs up!!!

Only $15 for resident parking? Wesley Grove and North Beach residents are
charged $30 for parking permits - this is our third year we have had to pay
for street parking in front of our homes.

You live on Ocean Ave. Pay more. Should charge you $100

Nope - wrong - I guess you haven't noticed that WG is on Cookman. So we should
pay MORE than other residents to park in front of our homes? My point was we
have been paying for years now to park on street - year 'round, not just summer
months.

your at the apex of the intersection and close. You have parking spaces that
come with the units no? These are extra spaces yes? And yes, parking is never
free even if it is not charged for. The cost is higher in spots near the beach
etc.

Just a failure of zoning planning and mostly the architect and the architectual
review. You should HAVE to use indoor parking

My 3 cents.

they also have a great drink menu.

I'm a not a pork fan -so The Ropa Vieja is pefect. The whole menu is great. The
Empanadas are great as well.

While the menu and theme are new - still part of the Stella Marina family

It will be a fun place.

We are on the 300 block. We have one garage space provided with unit. For any
additional cars we park on the street and pay. And how much do other residents
of the 300 blocks of 1st, 2nd,etc pay to park in front of their homes?

that's the problem.

Can you buy / rent another indoor spot?

Bad planning. The requirements for pakring for condo units was defined.

Dan what is/was it? 1.5 spaces per 2 bed? Don't recall.

You can't have a requirement fo x spaces per unit, then turn around and then
charge a premium to the unit to have a space.

[AsburyPark] Re: end of UEZ

2011-04-17 Thread oakdorf
All good things must come to an end - or be reexmained.

It's easy to spend $ but, according to the study it didn;t always work.

Unfortunately over the years, businesses probably came and went along with any
UEZ $ given.

Maybe AP has reached a point where it (marketing) can become self sufficent.
Therefore, the UEZ was a success as were those that opened up shop. Now - you
market yourself.

Guess what's next - ABBOTT $$$. That will start to shrink.

Another thought how to recoup the UEZ $ - add 3.5% or make that part of your
costs fo doing business and contribute to a joint marketing fund.

Maybe merge a couple departments into a joint Chamber office. Lots of $

YOu'll never please everyone. Go social. It's free if you DIY

...Grifa's letter followed the release of a February study that said the UEZ
program was too costly to the state for the amount of investment return, too
cumbersome bureaucratically, too problematic in some local UEZs, and should be
replaced right away with a new program.

But there is no plan being put forward because of economic and budget
restraints, Grifa said in February.

Asbury Park is losing about $1.6 million in the zone assistance funds, said
Thomas Gilmour, director of commerce and the UEZ program. Gilmour and Mayor Ed
Johnson, himself a previous UEZ board chairman, took over the city's troubled
UEZ program in 2001-2002.
