[AsburyPark] Outrageous Window Display in Spring Lake

2012-10-09 Thread newguysinasbury
I try to stay clear of this stuff but this has gotten me crazy. Read the
article, google it and post your comments. All sides need to be heard and I
would love to hear opinions. I for one will never set foot in that store again.

[AsburyPark] city ordinances

2012-10-09 Thread asburysteve
if there some place online to read them?

maybe they s/b posted somewhere where the summer police can read
them...before they start enforcing things that dont exist or do exist...but no
one
knows what they are.

i wonder why we hardly see any responses from the council members on any of
 these emails?

 ASBURY PARK, NJ –
Bookmark Saturday, November 10 on your calendar and come to the first ever
Asbury
Park Bookfest from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The Showroom Cinema, 708
Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park.
A co-production of The Showroom Cinema, the downtown Asbury Park
bookstore words! and _AsburyPulp.com_ (http://asburypulp.com/) , Asbury Park
Bookfest is a new concept for the downtown. “We wanted to have a venue where
all
our friends, some of the new authors we've come to know, and unique book
sellers could come together and enjoy their love of books,” declares Scott
Asalone of words! bookstore.
Asbury Park Bookfest will feature a carefully chosen selection of local
booksellers as well as downtown Asbury Park merchants who also dabble in
the written word. They will be joined by a select group of authors invited to
the event who will be on site to sign and talk about their work. The
Showroom, words! and _AsburyPulp.com_ (http://asburypulp.com/) will be
finalizing the line-up and releasing further details soon. You can read about
them here and also call words! at 732-455-5549 for information about
participating.
The three arts-related businesses have a long history of teaming up to
hold special events in downtown Asbury Park associated with cultural
panache. The Showroom and words! ran the popular Bookflx series, which brought
Junot Diaz and a host of other spectacular authors to Asbury Park.
_AsburyPulp.com_ (http://asburypulp.com/) 's Steven Froias has worked with
them for
years and curated a film series at The Showroom.
“When it comes to bringing compelling stories to downtown Asbury Park
there are no better partners to have than words! and The Showroom,” he says. “
So, when _AsburyPulp.com_ (http://asburypulp.com/) thought about bringing
the written word off the computer screen and onto the street, we
naturally turned to Scott Asalone and Jan Sparrow of words! and Mike Sodano
and
Nancy Sabino of The Showroom. ”
All agreed that the notion of a book festival in Asbury Park was an idea
which needed many editions. Asbury Park Bookfest kicks off on Saturday,
Nov. 10 as a sort of prologue project, limited in scope and designed to test
the waters for a next, and much-larger Bookfest planned for the spring.
“The idea of a book festival was too good to let sit all winter,” The
Showroom's Nancy Sabino says – and adds that the early November date
coincided with another major event for the cinema. “The current Showroom
will be
empty on Saturday, Nov. 10 in preparation for our move to our brand new
three screen theater across the street from our current location.” she
explains. The time – and timing – was right to stick a literary toe in the
water and launch something new: The Asbury Park Bookfest.
Catch the beginning of the story on Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m.
until 2:00 p.m. Updates will be posted on _www.AsburyPulp.com_
(http://www.asburypulp.com/) until then and also released to all local media.
 For
information about becoming a part of the first ever Asbury Park Bookfest,

[AsburyPark] Accounting...

2012-10-09 Thread oakdorf
It's cause spending exceeds income. Like my house.

All someone has to do is take a few minutes and read the budget line by line.
and you'll never be able to pay salaries, and all that saved sick and v time
either. Just keep on pushing off what you owe down the line to someone comes
along with a bigger eraser. AP isn't alone. Lot's of cities are bankrupt.

My kid's nonsense traffic tickets can't pay all the salaries.

Here's a hint. When someone calls to open a business in asbury, they can't be
given a runaround and be told to show proof it was used as a commercial
building. You'd think after being used that way for 77 years that would be
proof enough.
-
Due to the unusual nature of the City's request and the recent allegations
made by a former city employee who was intimately involved in the process, he
have to ask some questions [sic], Beck is quoted as saying in the release.
Asbury Park receives millions of dollars in state aid every year, more than
any other town in Monmouth County. The state has invested itself into the
future of Asbury and we need to know exactly what the City's leadership is
doing with all this money.
A fiscal monitor has already been assigned to the city, according to the
release.
Clearly we need to dedicate more resources to helping them get their house in
order, Beck is quoted as saying. The Division of Local Government Services
will have to increase its involvement to find out exactly what is going on in
Asbury.
