Asbury Park Images at Wikipedia 1. Just some observations I've made recently. Reuters reports that Wikipedia is now the top online news and information destination, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. Online encyclopedia Wikipedia has added about 20 million unique monthly visitors in the past year. In May, Wikipedia had 46.8 million unique visitors, up 72 percent from June 2006, NetRatings said. Wikipedia also has finished on top of the news and information category every month this year -- ranking ahead of Landmark Communications' Weather Channel site by an increasing margin -- topping out with a disparity of about 10 million visitors in May.
2. As I understand it, the rank of results at Google is based on what sites users are visiting. Right now, a search for " Asbury Park" will show Wikipedia ranked as number 3 or 4 out of approximately 2,000,000 hits. 3. "Crumbling," "dilapidated," "vacant" these are all used in the captions of the photos and suggest the demise of the town. However, the article doesn't talk about a decline and, instead, focuses on redevelopment. What are the views on this? The photos seem to suggest one point of view (that Asbury Park's a piece of crap [pardon the French]) and the article suggests another (Asbury Park: Getting' better every day). Perhaps some new photos are in order? 17:56, 24 June 2007 (UTC) have you ever been there? talk it up all you want, this city is positively terrifying. ===================================================== I'm hoping (suggesting) that the "powers that be"* have some content and images that more accurately reflect our progress at this time. Various news sources, marketing, and real estate interests have recently published many terrific images (E.g., Paramount Theater renovations, the new Hobo's, parades, et al.) They show us in a more positive light than what you'll see there now: the old Beirut-by-the-Sea stuff. It is not very difficult to edit a Wikipedia article or comment on the talk or discussion pages. Much easier, less time and effort than it took to carry out this year's a fantastic Road Trip event.
