[AsburyPark] Re: Baronet's Gone! Let's look forward.

2010-10-03 Thread Hinge

I think it would be interesting to see what condition the original Tilly is in,
sitting there in it's exposed wooded shed at the sewage plant.

We all have visions. glad I don't get excited about them anymore.

We cannot have an identity because we have to be so damned politically correct.
We wouldn't want to offend anyone. Look at Point Pleasant for example, one nit
wit, complained about the City Council reciting the Lord's Prayer and the ACLU
(American Communists Lawyers Union) filed a lawsuit. I'm an Athiest and it

I think America, in general, suffers from an identity crisis...we don't have
one. This countries communities have become so homogenized looking that it's
just plain boring in my opinion. We had an amazing identity, but we lacked
people that understood that it was vital to preserve it.
What we get instead is a constant state of marginal rebuilding driven by an
undercurrent of greed. Money rules, not cultural identity.
Meanwhile, the block where the rotting hulk of the Esperanza sits continues to
dominate our beachfront. Where's the outrage about that? Where's the plan to do
something about it? Nowhere.

[AsburyPark] Re: Baronet's Gone! Let's look forward.

2010-09-23 Thread dapawprint
I'd support that.

Although ReVision has had much success in the Carousel House, I'd think that
they would agree that it is not the prime space. I personally rallied a while
back to get the sister Carousel to the original Carousel back in that carousel
house and I met with opposition that it should be *given* to ReVision.

And, yes, there IS a sister Carousel and it was available. Maybe it still is.

Anyhow.

The issue at hand is theater. Personally, I have not witnessed ReVison
performances (partly due to the the opposition of my effort and partly due to
the fact that our schedules never mesh), but I have heard TERRIFIC reviews! I
was in town for the Tommy dress rehearsal and what I saw was magnificent.

ReVision needs better than a carousel house and there is a Carousel out there
somewhere waiting for a home.

I see the flip side too, Revison has kept the carousel house living. I also
fear that the Casino and the Carousel House are falling subject to Demolition
upon Neglect. Though, I suspect that the Arthur Pryor Bandshell will be the
next loss. :-( Everything seems to start with the roof.

I had additional information regarding the roof of the Baronet, sadly, that
doesn't matter anymore.

So, keep me in the loop with a home for ReVision. I still would like to see a
Carousel in that Carousel House.

All my best,

Glenn

[AsburyPark] Re: Baronet's Gone! Let's look forward.

2010-09-23 Thread oakdorf
What was wanted in AP:

Burned, collapsed or was simply leveled.

One of these days, someone will come up with an entertainment square - sure
it will be the original - but it sure can tie on the downtown, the boardwalk
and the residential areas. I'd to make it real - as I said I'd tie in all
those old AP brand names. They might not be in the original, but the theme
can live on.

Shit, even Tillie found a new home on the Wonder Bar - is that right or wrong?
sure sells shirts so is Tillie the face of AP, the Palace or the WB??

Do a survey one day outside the WB.

There's names I know and names Mario knows even better. Call it fake or
whatever.

It will be ADA compliant, safe and draw a hell of alot of people. Not pier -
but a fun and live entertainment district. That has always been MM's mantra in
their lifestyle centers. This could be one that is REAL...and very cool.

We all have visions. glad I don't get excited about them anymore.

Visions need cash. A contempary art musuem, a music museum, a pinball musuem, a
music studio, saving a building, opening a popcorn store or selling something
with AP on it.

It all takes money, time and ingenuity - and the land or building to take a
shot at success or failure.

You can't have a great music destination with no music studio, can you?

Take some of the billions tossed at the schools and use some of that to have
the BOE build a theatre - for the students that can be leased back per event to
any theatre group.

The problem is, everyone with a vision wants someone to provide prime space for
nothing. Read about every musuem in the US - read about the Guggenheim.

Better yet, try donating time to some cause or board without pulling your hair
out. I'd rather watch sand blow across the beach.

[AsburyPark] Re: Baronet's Gone! Let's look forward.

2010-09-23 Thread Hinge
I think America, in general, suffers from an identity crisis...we don't have
one. This countries communities have become so homogenized looking that it's
just plain boring in my opinion. We had an amazing identity, but we lacked
people that understood that it was vital to preserve it.
What we get instead is a constant state of marginal rebuilding driven by an
undercurrent of greed. Money rules, not cultural identity.
Meanwhile, the block where the rotting hulk of the Esperanza sits continues to
dominate our beachfront. Where's the outrage about that? Where's the plan to do
something about it? Nowhere.
