They care NOTHING for the citizens here, except their own bottom line! Just an aside: To the Posters of this group; I am so much more the richer, from having read your points of view and perspective, on how this Pearl of the Jersey Shore, should be polished! I admire and respect ALL views here and hopefully we can make it happen for Asbury Park on our own, then to allow someone ELSE, to decide FOR us, against what is good and right, for this and any area. Well, based on my communications a few months back with Hugh Lamie, I bet they'd defend themselves by saying that the NYC market is much different then our own, and that things happen faster there because that's where the money is. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, dfsavgny [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: They'll do more in less time. They will finish in the same space of time that Asbury Partners has already wasted and started nothing. From the NY Post. NEW-WAVE CONEY By RICH CALDER October 31, 2006 -- Here's a sneak peek at Coney Island's glamorous future. Architectural renderings obtained by The Post show a grand vision of the famed summer amusement area's rundown streets being transformed into a glitzy year-round playground and public attraction. In one image, Stillwell Avenue becomes a fantasy-filled boulevard marked by larger-than-life street furniture, such as a mermaid swimming in a martini glass and a gigantic tattooed elephant. The landmark Cyclone roller coaster can still be seen from down Bowery Street - which itself is reinvented as a permanent festival and sideshow area. Thor Equities has purchased 10 acres of boardwalk land in the hope of building a $1.5 billion entertainment destination. The project is awaiting city approval, but the company hopes to break ground in 18 months and wrap up in about five years. Yahoo! Let no one be unsure of the low to which Coney Island and the surrounding area sunk. At least as low as AP. The money WAS in Coney Island at one time and WAS in AP at one time. The difference that separates Coney Island from AP is the developer. There is a vision and a will to do it. All it takes is money. Now for some NYC history. A beer for the first one who knows why it is called Coney Island. No cheating by looking it up. Honor system. Yahoo!
