Sadly, India does not seem to be a participating country for this year's
entry.

So, no one among us can apply this year.

Re: [Assam] [asssam] London Violence

2011-08-10 Thread bbaruah

Dear Mrinal:

You are a journalist of some standing but I find your reporting is a
little further from reality.

we're convinced that Assam has changed .
It is sad that violence erupted in London and elsewhere in the
UK. It is not the first..

Thousands and thousands of people arrive at the airports of UK
everyday. am sure your next journey to London will be safe. The
Conservative Government led by David Cameron is doing his best to keep
the roads safe. You can believe him
I do not recommend that you walk the London streets with your wife at
midnight especially on lonely roads.
We are very happy and proud that a journalist of your standing has
joined Assam Net  to express your impressions during your last visit;
you are welcome.

Dear Rini

I got the news of Meira Kumar's praise to the achieving NRIs but
did not hear about the sumptuous dinner with a few Members of the House
of Lords. Seen the photographs too.

It is grand and great. Congratulations!

2011-08-10 Thread bbaruah

Dear Netters:

New York Times today (10 8 2011) has the story above by the well-known
journalist Nilanjana S. Roy

The blogosphere in India now includes females in Hindi, Tamil, Telegu,
Bengali,Kannada and Gujarati. I think there is none in Assamese and I
believe it is not for lack of interest on the part of either the
computer experts or our women. Expect to be enlightened.

[Assam] UN's Young professionals programme

2011-08-10 Thread Pankaj Barah
Young professionals programme

The United Nations is looking for highly qualified candidates who are ready
to launch a professional career as an international civil servant. The young
professionals programme (YPP) is a recruitment initiative that brings new
talent to the United Nations through an annual entrance examination. For
young, high-calibre professionals across the globe, the examination is a
platform for launching a career at the United Nations. This programme builds
upon the national competitive recruitment examination (NCRE) which was held
for the last time in 2010. For information and updates on the 2010 NCRE
cycle click here .

Are you eligible to participate in the young professionals programme
examination?

   - Do you hold at least a first-level university degree?
   - Are you 32 or younger by the end of this year?
   - Do you speak either English and/or French fluently?
   - Are you a national of a participating country?
