2008-12-18 Thread Siddhartha KATAKI
I fail to understand why are we so concerned about rights of terrorist. Then we
have Mr Antulay(our hon'ble ministerof congress cabinet) who wants to be a
self prophesed legal counsel to Kasab. This is apalling.

[asom] Kamrupi concern over Ahom innovation

2008-12-18 Thread Siddhartha KATAKI
Dangorias- can we please discuss other critical issues and ideas like
introduction of inneline permits in Assam? Aren't we all Assamese who are
invaded by Bangladeshis?

On Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 11:19 PM, Dhyanjyoti Deka wrote:

SJ, don't mind but the email below is out of context.

We are not talking about performing arts. We are talking about the local
dialect which is the Kamrupi language. Is it going to die out? At least in
Guwahati, the younger generation is trying not to speak because of the Dhekeri
stigma. Probably, this feeling will spread to the lower Assam districts as
well. How then we preserve this dialect? Maybe someone should write a book in
that dialect. Or someone should start publishing a newspaper? Someone who wants
to preserve his/her Kamrupi identity should do it. Remember, languages thrive
on constant output of literature. As for me, I am happy with my Assamese
identity.

[asom] Future of Assamese languauge

2008-12-19 Thread Siddhartha KATAKI
The growth looks healthy because illegal immigrants from Bangladesh
are claiming to be Assamese now. Let us not live in fools paradise but
rather stop these infightings. There is a broader issue of getting
swamped by aliens in our own homes and therefore we should leave aside
parochial discussions and try to bring about consciousness of the
problem.

Hi,

It's not very far that we will be endangered until we stop fighting among
ourselves, may be among various tribes, may be among Ahom - Kalita-Kosari, may
be Bodo-Assamese, may be Kamrupi-written Assamese, etc.

This is what a news in Assam tribune says:

"If you were in doubt whether Assamese-speaking people have increased or
already lost majority in the State. The answer is: Assamese speaking has
registered a growth of 0.40 per cent. Clearing the air to dispel the
apprehension that Assamese people have become minority in their own State,
Centre today clarified that there has been no decline in the Assamese speaking
population in the country during 1991-2001."

[asom] Implement inner-line permit in Assam

2008-12-22 Thread Siddhartha KATAKI
we should work, within the current constitutional constructs, on how
we should ring fence ourselves from alien invasion. I suppose
protecting our own rights is a guarantee provided for in our
constitution and within that we should force legislation to enact the
law which protects our cultural and religious rights, economic
independence and yet have freedom of movement within the Union. To
enable this if ILP is justified let us the have a meaningful debate
and take it to a logical conclusion of forcing our govt, through
peaceful means, to enact and implement this.

With warm regards,

Dear Arindam

  I agree to your point that without expulsion of illegal aliens from
it will be difficult to impose the concept of ILP. Having said that we
should impose ILP on pilot basis for districts which are less infested
with the aliens problem and gradually push them back from the
protected areas systematically.

[asom] Kamrupi development vs Assamese segregation

2008-12-28 Thread Siddhartha KATAKI
We are already a minority within our own homeland swamped by
Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. have we not awaken or are we still
relegating ourselves discussing these meaningless topics which may
have relevance but not to the level of getting or thinking that we are
endangered species. Or I am okay if anyone here in this forum thinks
himself/herself is ready for a conversion of language and religion by
being complacent.

[asom] Inner Line Permit and Protected Area Permit

2008-12-30 Thread Siddhartha KATAKI
I am taking the liberty to pick a few paragraphs from wikipedia on the
definition of ILP and PAP. I would seek the wisdom and collective
thoughts from our Oxomiya intelligentia to ideate contructively and come
to some meaningful conclusion on adoption of ILP and PAP in Assam to
protect ourselves from aliens from Pakistan and Bangladesh.Would
like to make this apolitical and a straight from the gut candid
discussion thread. The core purpose of this discussion will be to
conclude whether the current construct and legal statutes are
sufficient, if implemented, to give us the necessary protection from
being shunted out of our own homeland or do we need more.

Inner Line Permit and Protected Area Permit
   The Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order states that a Protected Area
Permit (PAP) is required for non-Indians to visit certain areas in India
(mainly in the North-East
 ). Certain requirements
have to be fulfilled in order to get this permit. Indian citizens, who
are not resident in these areas need a Inner Line Permit
  (ILP) to enter these
places.  Requirements
* Tourists have to travel in groups of at least 4
* They have to travel with a registered travel agent
* In some areas only certain entry/exit points are allowed. In
certain areas non-Indians cannot enter at all
* Citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and Myanmar can get the PAP
only with approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs

Normally the PAP has a duration of 10 days, with the option of extending
for another 7 days. The PAP is issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
However, the different authorities of the concerned Indian provinces can
also issue the PAP, and also the Indian missions abroad. Normally the
travel agent will take care of getting the PAP for the tourists.

  Areas for which a PAP is required
* Parts of Jammu and Kashmir

* Parts of Himachal Pradesh

* Parts of Uttar Pradesh
* All of Arunachal Pradesh

* All of Nagaland
* All of Manipur
* All of Mizoram

Areas for which the PAP Requirement was lifted
* Assam
* Meghalaya
* Tripura
* Sikkim
