Re: [asterisk-users] Installing sounds

2010-05-23 Thread Motiejus Jakštys
If the version either 1.4.x or 1.6.x, run "make menuconfig" from
asterisk source directory, pick up sounds you need, and make install
then.

Or, you can do as mentioned above: install sounds you need explicitly.

I did not install sounds during the installation of Asterisk, was wondering if
there is any means through which I can get to install sounds without having to

The device is created is the file exists. lsdahdi, however, uses
information from /proc/dahdi . Technically slightly different.

How would the device be created, I certainly did not do it myself -- I
thought modprobing the modules would do such a thing. I will certainly
try lsdahdi when I can reboot into the new kernel.

Re: [asterisk-users] US "Truth in caller id act"... and it's impact onservices

2010-05-23 Thread j...@j4computers.com
I submit this is still very ambiguous. The "intent to . . . deceive" is, like
"beauty" all in the eye of the beholder, or, (or accuser) one must be able to
accurately read the mind of the "perpetrator".

Also, what is "inaccurate"? Is that when you transmit the original ID, as is
default? Is that "accurate"? Or is it "accurate" to say it came from the
"hairpin" machine?

A field day for lawyers. As are so many laws. Wiggle room.

Any chance that with that version the device was not created? What do
you see on the output of lsdahdi in both cases?

If you want a more "stable" version that still builds with newer
kernels, look at the 2.2 or 2.3 svn branches (and released tarballs).

[asterisk-users] Dahdi problems with kernel 2.6.32

2010-05-23 Thread covici
Hi. I am having problems with dahdi using kernel 2.6.32. I am using
2.6.30 kernel and it works fine -- here is the output of dahdi_cfg -vv
++ dahdi_cfg -vv
DAHDI Tools Version - SVN-trunk-r8670

DAHDI Version: SVN-trunk-r7445M
Echo Canceller(s):
Configuration
==

Channel map:

Channel 01: FXO Kewlstart (Default) (Echo Canceler: mg2) (Slaves: 01)
Channel 04: FXS Kewlstart (Default) (Echo Canceler: mg2) (Slaves: 04)

2 channels to configure.

Changing signalling on channel 1 from Unused to FXO Kewlstart
Setting echocan for channel 1 to mg2
Changing signalling on channel 4 from Unused to FXS Kewlstart
Setting echocan for channel 4 to mg2

However, if I am using kernel 2.6.32 I get the following -- the configs
have not changed:

++ dahdi_cfg -vv
DAHDI Tools Version - SVN-trunk-r7409
DAHDI_CHANCONFIG failed on channel 1: No such device or address (6)

DAHDI Version: SVN-trunk-r8653M
Echo Canceller(s):
Configuration
==

Channel map:

Channel 01: FXO Kewlstart (Default) (Echo Canceler: mg2) (Slaves: 01)
Channel 04: FXS Kewlstart (Default) (Echo Canceler: mg2) (Slaves: 04)

2 channels to configure.

I had to update dahdi-trunk because the old version would not compile
under 2.6.32, and update of dahdi-tools-trunk make no difference.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
