Use ";" instead of "#" to comment dahdi/system.conf. If it's auto-

That has been around for quite some time. That's basically the
only way the GUI can read files.

/me fears this #include will bre replaced by an #exec.

On our live CD we have an extra dahdi-perl config generation module to
generate configuration for the GUI. We can easily format its output in
any required format. Though it naturally won't reflect any editing of
system.conf .

Actually, this seemed to work as I would like:
exten => s,n,Set(IMCID='${CALLERID(name)}' <${CALLERID(num)}>)

No need to mess with quotes that way.

That's very broken. /etc/dahdi/system.conf is not an Asterisk
configuration file, it doesn't follow the same syntax, and there's no
reason whatsoever for Asterisk to be reading it.

Ahh, ok. Then that explains it. Thanks

Shaun

During a normal install from sources with the GUI, you get

dahdi_guiread.conf:#include "../dahdi/system.conf"

I could be mistaken, but I don't think, by default, any of the
configuration files should be including /etc/dahdi/system.conf.

Where is that include coming from in your configuration?

In mine it only shows up in some comments:

  $ grep dahdi\/system\.conf /etc/asterisk/*
  /etc/asterisk/chan_dahdi.conf:; /etc/dahdi/system.conf. This sets the tone
zone by number.
  /etc/asterisk/chan_dahdi.conf:; /etc/dahdi/system.conf).

Hi,

Testing 1.8.8.0 (with Dahdi 2.5.0.2 and asterisk-gui 2.1.0-rc1), I'm
seeing this on my console:

WARNING[25363]: config.c:1208 process_text_line: Unknown directive '#'
at line 1 of /etc/asterisk/../dahdi/system.conf

This warning is repeated for every line starting with a # char.
Shall I care ?
Suggestions ?

(To me, /etc/asterisk/../dahdi/system.conf belongs to Dahdi, not to Asterisk)

Cheers

Great !

At least, this gives me a workaround : I need to value a custom
variable to something like 201112221645 (date and time (in hours and
minutes).
An include and an external script (ran every minute) would just give me that.

Maybe an exec, that would be triggered by an appropriate event, would
also do it.

Thanks for helping.

You could use the REPLACE function to zap the quotes and commas.

asterisk -rx "core show function REPLACE"

Replace a set of characters in a given string with another character.

[Description]

Subject: [asterisk-users] Properly Escaping Quotes and Commas

Hello all,

I have a setup where Asterisk sends a message to a few jabber users on each
incoming call, like:

exten => s,n,Macro(sendim,"Incoming call from ${CALLERID(all)}")

The macro looks like this:

[macro-sendimuser2]

exten => s,n,JabberSend(asterisk,us...@gmail.com,${ARG1})

exten => s,n,JabberSend(asterisk,us...@internal.jabber.server.tld,${ARG1})

[macro-sendim]

exten => s,1,Noop("Holder");

same  => n,Macro(sendimuser1,${ARG1})

same  => n,Macro(sendimuser2,${ARG1})

The issue I'm having, is if the callerID contains a command, such as:
Lastname, Firstname, ${CALLERID(all)} turns into "Lastname, Firstname"
.

This seems to mess up the quoting, as the macro argument expands to be

"Incoming call from "Lastname, Firstname" , and the ${ARG1} as the
macro sees it is set to "Incoming call from "Lastname

The comma ends up outside the double quotes and then it splits the macro
arguments.

What's the best way to do this right?

Thanks!!!

This is one of the 'harder' things to calculate. You'll at least want to start
here for some ideas:

http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+dimensioning

In general however, you appear to have some beefy hardware. With a properly
configured system (bare Linux, no GUI, some kernel sysctl tuning, etc), you
should see fantastic performance on that box. Plus, with "turbo" you can always
hit that little button[1] on the front of your server if you need a bit of a
performance boost. :)

Did you try to make dahdi-tools before installing newt_devel ?

pre-requisits are on debian;
libncurses5-dev
libnewt-dev

I'm guessing as to what the problem might be, but I think that it now still
complains that libnewt-dev needs to be installed.
I see this regularly when building a new installation and have forgotten to
install libnewt-dev or what ever.

re running ./configure and then 'make menuslect' always reports as below (even
after installing libncurses5-dev and libnewt-dev)

No menuselect user interface found. Install ncurses,

asterix:/usr/src/pbx/dahdi-tools#

The quickest solution for me in the past has been to install the dev tools
required. Delete the dahdi-tools directory and re checkout.

I can repeat this, on a headless debian squeeze box, no GUI.
I've just repeated this, just by uninstalling
   libncurses5-dev
   libnewt-dev
then take a fresh checkout
svn co http://svn.digium.com/svn/dahdi/tools/trunk dahdi-tools
then
   ./configure
   make menuselect
  error messages as above are emitted
then
  apt-get install libncurses5-dev
  apt-get install libnewt-dev
then
   ./configure
then
   make menuselect
  error messages as above are emitted

But now I've spent the time
  rm menuselect/makeopts
  ./configure
  make menuselect

[asterisk-users] Using shell script output into phoneprov.conf's custom variables

2011-12-22 Thread Olivier
Hello,

I'm looking at phoneprov.conf capabilities for the first time.
I've seen this:
setvar => CUSTOM_CONFIG=/var/lib/asterisk/phoneprov/configs/custom.cfg
 ; Custom variable

Is it possible to use something like:
setvar => CUSTOM_CONFIG=$(/bin/date)

In other words, is it possible to use the output of a shell script as
a way to set a phoneprov.conf custom variable ?

(I could test this on my own, but as I'm new to the whole
phoneprov.conf process which gives many reasons to fail, I prefer to
ask here).
