[Asterisk-Users] codec selection based on call prefix

2006-01-26 Thread Dionisis Koumouras

Hi all,
I have an IAX connection between two asterisk
servers and i'm looking for a way to cut down on the needed bandwidth. Both
voice and fax calls pass through the channel so it is currently configured to
use g.711. Could it be possible to select the codec based on the call's
prefix so that g.711 will be used for fax calls and g.729 for
voice?

[Asterisk-Users] multiple line registrations on attendant console

2005-12-08 Thread Dionisis Koumouras

Hi all,

I've noticed that Polycom and Snom each offer
attendant console expansions. As far as I understand, the point in using all
the buttons they provide is to program them to register as extensions in
order to be able to monitor the status of each extension at any given time and,
also, to be able to pickup any extension that has been ringing for a
while.

Is this feature supported by asterisk? I have tried
to register two sip phones with the same extension but when I dial the extension
only one of the phones rings.

This is a feature that is necessary in many
telephony environments and I'd be happy to be able to implement it using
asterisk.
I've searched through the list's posts for the
past few months but didn't come up with anything usefull.

any help would be greatly appreciated

[Asterisk-Users] wctdm module won't load after kernel upgrade

2005-09-12 Thread Dionisis Koumouras

Hi all,

I have installed a TDM22B on an IBM xSeries 220
with FedoraCore 3 and setup asterisk cvs head to work properly.

A few days ago, I tried to update the system kernel
to 2.6.12 from 2.6.9 and also to change to asterisk stable
1.0.9.
After compiling zaptel and asterisk, i loaded
zaptel and tried to load the wctdm module but this failed with the
following message:

Notice: Configuration file is
/etc/zaptel.conf
line 206: Unable to open master device
'/dev/zap/ctl'

I checked /dev/ and there is no /zap directory but,
instead, some devices that look relevant like zap1, zap2 etc.

Obviously, if boot with the older kernel, wctdm
will not load either.

Any help is welcome
Thanks in advance,

[Asterisk-Users] Fw: linksys rt31p2 test case

2005-06-27 Thread Dionisis Koumouras

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a test case for an ISP
featuring an asterisk server and a couple of linksys rt31p2-na routers
registering on it.

Instead of using dsl lines, i'm trying to plug the
* server and the routers on a cisco switch, just to test their
functionality.
I have created a vlan and a subnet on the switch
and set up the ip addresses of the routers in that
subnet.
When i plug the routers in the
switch through their internet port, i cannot even ping
them.

Is this normal behaviour? Are these routers only
supposed to work with a dsl/cable modem attached to that "internet"
port?

I'm sure that i have not miscofigured the switch
since i had a cisco expert take care of that.

thx in advance,
Dionisis
