Re: [Asterisk-Users] Bristuff ZapHFC and Loosing D-Channel

2005-01-27 Thread Nils Segerdahl
Hi

This is normal behaviour if you are running isdn in PTMP mode, at least in
sweden. It is bothering with these messages, but I'we been running my test
site with two PTMP lines for months and everything worked fine.
It is said that some operators keep trying to turn off the D-channel in
PTMP-mode. But asteriskt keeps trying to turn it on.

This is usually no problem.

If you can't recceive calls, my exeprience is that there is some problem
with the msn that is set on the line.

 it only takes a second or so to come back up, noted by the message

 PRI D-channel up

 However, today most of the time the D-channel stays down. Calls come in,
 but can't be answered.

 Does anyone know of a fix for this, or might have some insights on how
 to circumvent this problem?

 Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

During testing we used the same setup on a different isdn-line in ptmp

When we switched to the lines used by our old alcatel pbx I had wery

Nils,
Thanks for your help with this issue and I thought I should send this to the
list for the benefit of others.
The issue was with the options piping through patch.
The command I used was zcat /path/zaphfc_0.2.0-rc2b_florz-1.diff.gz |
patch which worked fine. Notice no p1 option.
The feedback from the customer is that the audio quality has improved 100%
and they are now happy. I cannot find any errors from Asterisk or the system
logs and so this patch from Florz seems to be good and stable. Thanks Florz.
It is that good that where I have a 4 port BRI card from Junghanns in a site
that is giving me major problems with framing errors where I am using three
of the ports, I am going to install 3 Billion cards using zaphfc and the
Florz patch to try and get around the problem because the framing error
problems with the 4 port card is taking forever to resolve.
Thanks again Nils for your help and Florz for a great patch.
Rgds,
Stuart

If you look at the patch you can see what lines need to go into the

If you have any problems, drop me a line off-list and I'll help you

Hi,
Remember that make requires that the indentation in the Makefile is done

I you cut and paste there is a risk that the indentation is converted to

There was a discussion on this list a short while ago on howto debug
frameslips.

I think you could find useful information in that thread.

I had the same problems using hfc cards with bristuff. (with patched
zaptel drivers).

When I applied Florian Zumbiehls patch the problem went away.
(The link to the patch can be found in the wiki: asterisk zaphfc)

Is it a possibility that there is a problem with interrupt handling
in the zaptel driver for other cards as well?

 If that's the case, then my secondary approach is going to have to be:
   PSTN - Asterisk + chan_h323 - t38modem + Hylafax

 Is there anybody that could help me with either of these solutions?

Re: [Asterisk-Users] fax to email

2005-01-06 Thread Nils Segerdahl

This mail is in by no way a attempt to meddle.

ok?

Email to eg. txfax:
---

If you are using sendmail, implement a ruleset that will forward all local
mail for the toplevel domain .fax to a script.
How to do this you will find in O'Reileys big sendmail book.

It is important that the mail to the .fax domain is passing through your
mailserver. In sendmail this is implemented by using the smarthost
directive.

How to write the script can be found in the voip-info wiki.

Something like converting the mail to tiff.
ascii2ps - ps2tiff or something like that.

Then you create a asterisk call file to send the fax.

Another way to do this would be to send the mail to a user
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ( or whatever your asterisk server is called)
Put the destination phonenumber in the subject line.

Use an sendmail alias to forward all mail to user fax to the script.

Eg:

fax: |/bin/sendfax

or something like that. (man aliases)

Print to fax
-

O'reillys book on samba has information on smbfax. Otherwise it is easy to
find information on this on google.

The problem when you are printing is to get the destination phonenumber to
the fax software.

But as far i remember it is quite well dokumented, in the book or on the
web.

http://inconnu.isu.edu/~ink/new/projects/smbfax/

I'we implemented both of these cases a fews year ago, so it can be done.

The third case was howto get the coversheet filled in.

I think i used smbfax printing to a file and then seding the user an
email with a link to a html form where he could fill in the cover sheet
information, look at the tiff-file and then click ok to send the fax.

 Best regards

Nils

Hi,

I have had problems with receiving faxes with rxfax.

Using bristuff with four hfc cards and spandsp 0.2.0 pre6 I got the
symptoms of frame slips.

I've tried all the debugging tips in this thread.
I've tried moving from kernel 2.4 to 2.6.7.

The only symptom of something wrong has been the 32k interrupts per second
generated by the zaphfc driver.

All the time the sound quality when listening has been good.

Applying the patch from Florian Zumbiehl to zaphfc seems to have solved my
problems. The number of generated interrupts when the system was idle
decreased drastically.

Thanks Florian!

Link to the patch can be found at the wiki:

 Hi, I'm running into issues receiving faxes which, from what I have read,
 may be caused by frame slips. While I can find many posts saying to
 investigate it, I can't find any that describe *how* to debug the problem.
 Tried searching this list as well to no avail.

 Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

 FYI, I'm running wbel, AMP 1.04, spandsp 2pre4. Faxing to a pstn on a
 t400p. Most faxes don't get received at all, but those that do have what
 appear to be the traditional signs: horizontal lines, most of the page cut
 off, etc..

 And here's a basic linux question as a followup: if I try different
 hardware, can I use the existing build - or do I need to rebuild linux to
 properly detect the changed devices?

 Thanks in advance - Joe Presto

 Hi

 I have installed the http://asteriskathome.sourceforge.net/ with a
 Digium card with no problems, very good !
 Now I want to install my Billion PCI ISDN card (HFC based) in TE mode.
 I get a little confused with Isdn4Linux, ZapHFC HIAX and the need to
 install Capi !

 Please suggest best and easiest approach ?

Hi,

The easy way to do it would be to use ISDN4LINUX and modem.conf
I don't think capi doesnt support billion PCI.
zaphfc requires that you rebuild your asterisk from cvs.

This is what I had in my modem.conf when I used a billion card with I4L

 [interfaces]
 context=remote
 driver=i4l
 language=en
 type=autodetect
 dialtype=tone
 mode=immediate
 group=1
 msn=018543210
 incomingmsn=*
 outgoingmsn=543210,543211
 device = /dev/ttyI0
 device = /dev/ttyI1

And in extensions.conf
For outgoing:

exten=_0.,2,dial(Modem/g1:${EXTEN:1})

For incoming:

exten = 018543210,1,goto(default,21,1)
exten = 018543211,1,goto(default,23,1)

Or something like that..

The quality whas ok.
