Why? Hall: Actually, I think the next big story is in the VoIP [voice over Internet Protocol] space, and it is called "Asterisk." Asterisk is a F/OSS project that allows a complete PBX system to be implemented on an inexpensive PC with a couple of peripheral cards inserted. It has most, if not all, of the features that large, incredibly expensive PBX systems have. But most importantly, it is F/OSS, which means that a company can integrate the rest of their software into the PBX. -end- Cheers And on another interview he said "I predict that over next three years, VoIP using an open-source solution, such as Asterisk, will generate more business than the entire Linux marketplace today" . http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/communications/0,261791,39162030,00.htm ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Hi, I'm trying to figure that out . I've already read all the information I found on wiki , and googled that too . But I still can't understand how exactly they work. "...you can pickup a ringing phone if you have a group in your /pickupgroup/ that is in their /callgroup/." what does that exactly mean ? if someone could point me to somewhere I can find more information or help me to understand that I would be really happy =] . thanks, Pedro ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
